Team: Initially standalone, with plans to build a local finance team

We are looking for an experienced Finance Controller to join a newly established manufacturing operation in Thailand. This is a key greenfield opportunity where you will take ownership of establishing the finance and accounting function from the ground up and ensure the Thailand entity is fully prepared for operational launch.

The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in setting up accounting processes, financial controls, reporting structures, budgeting, costing, and compliance while working closely with the US-based CFO and global finance stakeholders.

This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys building processes from scratch, working in a start-up/greenfield manufacturing environment, and taking ownership of the full finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting Setup

  • Establish and manage the end-to-end finance and accounting function for the Thailand entity.
  • Set up accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial processes in line with group requirements.
  • Establish the chart of accounts, closing procedures, reporting processes, and financial controls.
  • Manage full-cycle accounting, including GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, inventory, accruals, and month-end closing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and other professional advisors.

Manufacturing Finance & Costing

  • Establish and manage manufacturing accounting and costing processes.
  • Develop and maintain standard costing, product costing, labor costs, overhead allocation, and manufacturing variances.
  • Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and other functions to ensure accurate costing and inventory valuation.
  • Monitor production costs, inventory movements, material usage, and manufacturing variances.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support operational and business decisions.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process for the Thailand operation.
  • Develop financial models, forecasts, and management reports.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Support management with financial analysis, business cases, CAPEX evaluation, and cost optimization initiatives.

Controls, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with Thai accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and group policies.
  • Establish appropriate internal controls and financial governance for the new entity.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely statutory reporting, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements.

Greenfield Project & Business Partnership

  • Support the establishment and launch of the Thailand legal entity from a finance perspective.
  • Work closely with the US finance team and local management during the setup and implementation phase.
  • Support ERP/accounting system implementation and ensure finance processes are properly integrated with business operations.
  • Develop scalable finance processes and controls to support future business growth.
  • Act as a strategic finance business partner to the Thailand management team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in finance and accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience in manufacturing accounting and costing.
  • Experience setting up finance/accounting processes for a new entity, greenfield operation, or start-up environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and statutory accounting.
  • Experience with ERP implementation or finance system setup is an advantage.
  • CPA/CPD certification is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership in an evolving environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with international stakeholders.
  • Good command of English is required due to regular communication with the US-based CFO and global finance team.
