Finance Controller (Greenfield Manufacturing Setup)
We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller to lead the establishment of the finance and accounting function for a new manufacturing operation in Thailand. This is a greenfield opportunity where you will play a key role in setting up financial processes, internal controls, compliance frameworks, and reporting systems while partnering closely with local and global leadership to support the company's long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting Operations
- Establish and manage the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions for the Thailand entity.
- Develop accounting policies, financial procedures, and internal controls in accordance with local regulations and group policies.
- Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare management reports, financial statements, and variance analyses for local and regional management.
Greenfield Setup
- Lead the finance workstream during the company setup, including legal entity establishment, accounting infrastructure, ERP implementation, banking relationships, and financial governance.
- Design scalable finance processes and standard operating procedures to support future business expansion.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams during factory setup and operational ramp-up.
Costing & Manufacturing Finance
- Develop and implement standard costing and product costing methodologies.
- Establish inventory valuation processes and manufacturing cost controls.
- Monitor production costs, material usage, inventory movements, and operational variances.
- Partner with Operations to improve productivity, profitability, and cost efficiency.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve business results.
- Support strategic planning and investment decisions with financial analysis.
Compliance & Tax
- Ensure compliance with Thai Financial Reporting Standards (TFRS), taxation requirements, and statutory regulations.
- Manage corporate tax, VAT, withholding tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and government authorities.
- Support BOI applications and ongoing compliance where applicable.
Treasury & Risk Management
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital.
- Implement financial controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate business risks.
Business Partnering
- Act as the key finance business partner to the General Manager and global leadership.
- Provide commercial and operational insights to support business decisions.
- Build and develop the local finance team as the organization grows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
- At least 8–12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with experience in manufacturing environments.
- Previous experience in greenfield setup, factory startup, or establishing finance operations is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, costing, budgeting, treasury, and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP implementation (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) is an advantage.
- Familiarity with BOI regulations and manufacturing compliance is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Self-driven, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
