- Oversee timely and accurate monthly vessel OPEX reporting in accordance with owners formats and deadlines
- Review financial reports, reconciliations, variance explanations and supporting documentation
- Monitor vessel funding positions, identify potential shortfalls and ensure timely follow-up or escalation
- Maintain strong relationships with Principals, Ship Owners, Fleet Managers, Vessel Managers, Technical teams and other stakeholders
- Lead, coach and develop the vessel accounting team, including workload allocation, performance management and training
- Resolve complex accounting, reporting and client-related issues independently
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls and established procedures
- Support internal and external audits and review funding requests for unbudgeted expenditure and dry-docking costs
- Drive process standardisation, automation, system enhancements and practical adoption of AI tools
- Support future operating-model changes, including centralisation or migration of transactional activities
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
- Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA or CMA would be advantageous
- At least 8 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, including team leadership
- Strong accounting fundamentals across monthly closing, financial reporting, reconciliations, controls, budgeting and variance analysis
- Experience in maritime, ship management, vessel accounting or another complex client-facing environment is preferred
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement, systems implementation or finance transformation
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management and problem-solving skills
- Able to manage demanding clients, multiple deadlines and a diverse team
- Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP-system proficiency; NetSuite experience would be advantageous
