Director of Fitness & Integrated Wellness
Role Purpose
The Director of Fitness & Integrated Wellness is the senior leader of Stay Fit and the driving force behind a best-in-class fitness and integrated wellness experience. This is a leadership role, not a senior trainer role: the Director builds and develops the team, owns commercial performance, and guarantees a guest experience worthy of a luxury resort — elevating Stay Fit into a premium destination for performance and wellness. The successful candidate leads from the front: credible on the training floor, commanding in the boardroom, and relentless about guest outcomes.
What Best-in-Class Looks Like
- Elevates rather than manages. Sets a standard of excellence and coaches the team toward it, rather than maintaining the status quo.
- Thinks like an owner. Connects every class, package, and hire to guest experience, retention, and revenue.
- Designs the whole journey. Integrates movement, recovery, nutrition, and lifestyle into a seamless guest experience across departments.
- Is evidence-led and current. Grounds programming in exercise science and stays ahead of global trends — longevity, metabolic health, HYROX, recovery science, and data-driven training.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategic Leadership
- Own the standards, and annual plan for fitness and integrated wellness, and serve as the fitness authority on the resort leadership team.
- Translate the resort's wellness positioning into a distinctive portfolio of programs, packages, and signature experiences, benchmarking continuously against leading global wellness resorts.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Recruit, onboard, lead, and retain a high-performing team of trainers, coaches, and instructors.
- Set clear standards, goals, and KPIs; deliver regular coaching, structured performance reviews, and ongoing education on technique, service, and industry trends.
- Develop bench strength that delivers luxury standards without the Director present; manage rosters, scheduling, and time & labor in line with guest demand.
Guest Experience & Luxury Service
- Guarantee a consistently flawless, personalized guest journey, and personally manage VIP relationships.
- Establish and audit service standards and guest feedback loops, while remaining hands-on with signature sessions that model the standard for the team.
Programming & Fitness Innovation
- Direct progressive, science-based programming spanning strength, conditioning, mobility, body recomposition, and injury prevention, plus a compelling group-class portfolio (HIIT, HYROX-style, strength circuits) for all levels.
- Lead the packaging and delivery of all-inclusive fitness, weight-loss, wellness-retreat, and body-transformation programs, with assessment and progress tracking so outcomes are demonstrable.
Integrated Wellness & Cross-Department Collaboration
- Partner with wellness, clinic, spa, and F&B teams to deliver seamless, holistic guest journeys rather than a standalone gym.
- Integrate recovery, sleep, stress management, and evidence-based nutrition and habit coaching within scope of practice.
Commercial Performance & P&L
- Own the fitness P&L — revenue targets, PT and package sales, memberships, retention, and cost control.
Operations, Safety & Brand
- Uphold impeccable facility, equipment-safety, and maintenance standards, and own health, safety, risk, and duty-of-care protocols across all outlets.
- Champion the Stay Fit brand — content, social presence, signature events, and a vibrant guest community that drives loyalty and word-of-mouth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional standing).
- Internationally recognized, current PT certification (e.g. NASM, ACSM, ACE, NSCA, REPs Level 3 or equivalent); advanced S&C credential (e.g. NSCA-CSCS) strongly preferred. Current CPR / AED / First Aid.
- Minimum 5+ years professional experience in fitness and wellness, including at least 3 years leading and developing teams.
- Ability to design and lead group fitness across multiple formats and build science-based individual programs; fluent, polished English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in wellness retreat or high-end studio.
- Nutrition certification (e.g. Precision Nutrition, ISSA) and/or credentials in metabolic health, longevity, or lifestyle coaching.
- Experience packaging wellness, weight-loss, and body-transformation programs
