The Food Buyer role offers an opportunity to support the establishment of a Japanese restaurant chain specialising in sushi as it prepares to open its first stores in Thailand. The position will manage local and overseas food sourcing, supplier relationships, logistics coordination, and stock availability to support the company's business setup and future restaurant operations.
Responsibilities
- Purchase food products and ingredients from local and overseas suppliers
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate prices and commercial terms
- Coordinate import and local logistics to ensure the timely delivery of products
- Work closely with warehouse and operations teams to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Monitor supplier performance, product quality, and market pricing
- Ensure all products meet food safety requirements and company standards
- Research new suppliers and sourcing opportunities
- Provide relevant market and product information to management
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in food purchasing, procurement, or sourcing
- Experience in restaurant chains, food import and export, or food distribution businesses
- Strong knowledge of local logistics and imported food supply chains
- Good understanding of food ingredients and food industry standards
- Experience sourcing seafood products is highly preferred
- Good negotiation and supplier management skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Basic English communication skills for business coordination
