CGI is seeking an experienced Senior Python Engineer with 5+ years of experience in backend application development, cloud technologies, and AI-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, AWS, data processing, and Large Language Models (LLMs), with proven experience building scalable, secure, and production-grade applications.
The successful candidate will work on enterprise AI initiatives, designing intelligent applications, integrating modern AI frameworks, and developing cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python applications following object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and software engineering best practices.
Develop and optimize high-performance RESTful APIs using FastAPI.
Design robust backend services with a focus on scalability, security, and maintainability.
Develop efficient data processing pipelines using Python data structures and algorithms.
Perform data analysis and transformation using Pandas, NumPy, and DataFrames.
Build file processing solutions for PDF, CSV, Excel, Word, and other structured and unstructured document formats.
Develop data visualization and reporting capabilities using Matplotlib.
Design and implement cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services.
Integrate and manage Amazon S3, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and AWS Lambda for scalable application development.
Automate AWS services using Boto3.
Design and implement AI-powered features using OpenAI APIs and enterprise-grade Large Language Models (LLMs).
Build intelligent workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, and Pydantic AI.
Develop AI solutions utilizing modern LLMs such as ChatGPT-5, Claude Sonnet 4.5, and AWS Nova.
Optimize prompt engineering strategies and LLM orchestration for enterprise applications.
Implement application security, logging, monitoring, and performance optimization best practices.
Collaborate with product owners, architects, cloud engineers, and cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
Must-Have Skills:
5–7 years of experience in software development with strong expertise in Python.
Hands-on experience in Machine Learning and Generative AI application development.
Experience building applications using Large Language Models (LLMs).
Strong understanding of:
Prompt Engineering
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
Embeddings and Vector Search
Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Experience with Machine Learning frameworks such as:
PyTorch
TensorFlow
Scikit-learn
Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
Experience developing RESTful APIs using FastAPI or Flask.
Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
AWS & Cloud
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including:
Amazon Bedrock
Amazon SageMaker
AWS Lambda
Amazon S3
Amazon EC2
Amazon RDS
API Gateway
Experience deploying cloud-native AI applications.
Knowledge of cloud security, monitoring, and cost optimization.
Preferred Skills
Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, FAISS, OpenSearch, ChromaDB, or Weaviate.
Experience fine-tuning foundation models using PEFT or LoRA.
Knowledge of Responsible AI, AI governance, and model explainability.
Experience building enterprise-scale AI solutions in cloud environments.
