We work closely with rice millers, farmers and third-party suppliers to source and supply high-quality rice from rice producing countries in Asia and the Americas. We've established key partnerships, such as with the Thai Rice Department and the German development agency (GIZ), to promote sustainable rice cultivation. Through these partnerships we work closely with rice farmers to implement the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) Standard to improve their livelihoods and reduce environmental impacts of rice farming. We're world's first and now the largest sustainable rice producer and supplier. We lead the world's largest Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) project in Thailand.

Job Description

The overall responsibilities of the General Manager include managing the end-to-end supply chain from harvesting, processing to shipping and maintaining sustainability & product certifications for the business. The 1,250 strong workforce is a diverse team with various nationalities comprising national and regional experts with deep domain knowledge. The incumbent will have led this team and deliver on the people, processes, partnerships and profitability including:

• Strategic effectiveness (including key stakeholder management and industry leadership)
• Operational effectiveness
• Organizational effectiveness

Key Deliverables

• Strategic responsibility for arriving at the best-fit strategy for the profit-center.
• Execute long term strategic expansion by leading large-scale capex and opex projects
• Bottom line responsibilities: Completing the budgeted commitments on volumes, GC, overheads, interest and PAT.
• Develop and deliver wood products sustainability strategy with the objective of maintaining best in class industry certifications, achieving Olam purpose of thriving communities and regenerating the living world.
• Bring in innovation and a high level of engagement with all key stakeholders to build on the sustainability issues critical to this industry.
• Be the face of Olam Rice Products in the region. The incumbent must strategically manage the responsibilities and dynamic environment, constantly keeping in touch with the important players to keep herself abreast of the latest in the sector.
• Development of manpower: Along with mentoring and career-pathing of the team members, the incumbent also must ensure that the career paths are perpetuated suitably down the staff-line.
