Summary:
This role plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's analytical foundation; accountable for the end‑to‑end operational management of the Power BI platform and associated BI services. This role owns platform stability, availability, performance, security, and service levels, ensuring business users receive reliable, trusted, and timely insights.
The role acts as the single point of accountability for Power BI operations—covering sustainment, incident management, service levels, vendor management, and continuous operational improvement.
It will establish standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices that ensure consistency, scalability, and performance across global and regional analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on designer with deep experience in semantic model architecture and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Health & Delivery Management of Analytics Solutions:
- Own the operational health of the Microsoft Fabric/BI platform, ensure platform availability, resilience, performance, security and scalability across all environments
- Define and enforce Fabric and Power BI operational standards including service level agreements (SLAs); drive incident management and quality service delivery to the organization
- Own the development and delivery cycle of new analytics solutions; right from setting design standards to testing, delivery, hyper-care etc.. Provide clear documentation, technical specifications, and transition guidance for production deployment.
- Govern change management across Fabric artifacts and Power BI assets; ensure changes are controlled, tested, documented, and communicated.
- Partner with data engineering and domain teams to fix data issues at source; ensure data issues are triaged with clear ownership and resolution timelines
- Setup and lead 3rd party vendor teams to manage day to day operations and performance
- Define and maintain Fabric and Power BI operational runbooks and SOPs
Semantic Layer Design & Standardization:
- Develop and maintain enterprise-grade semantic models serving as the single source of truth across functions and geographies.
- Define design patterns, modeling principles, and naming conventions for dimensions, measures, and hierarchies.
- Collaborate with different data-teams and super users to align modeling standards and promote reuse of shared datasets and measures.
Monitoring, Observability & Capacity Management
- Implement and maintain end‑to‑end monitoring for Fabric pipelines, Lakehouse, Warehouse, and semantic models including Power BI refreshes, query performance etc.
- Own Fabric capacity planning, scaling, and cost optimization and day to day management of capacity utilization, throttling, and concurrency
- Use telemetry and usage analytics to move from reactive to proactive operations.
- Manage enterprise fabric capacities (storage/compute) and drive continuous optimization
Data Platform Alignment:
- Work closely with Data Engineering and Snowflake teams to ensure alignment between BI semantic models and the global data platform (GDP).
- Define and maintain reference model templates for use by other analytics stakeholders (Finance, Commercial, Operations, HR, etc.).
- Ensure BI models consume certified, governed, and performance-optimized data assets
Position Requirements & Key Abilities:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 8-10+ years of experience in BI, Analytics, or Data Architectureroles, with a strong focus on semantic modeling and performance optimization.
- Experience running enterprise‑scale Fabric deployments
- Familiarity with Azure data services (SQL, Synapse, Data Factory, ADLS)
- Experience with DataOps / Analytics DevOps operating models
- Microsoft certifications (Fabric, Power BI, Azure)
- Strong understanding of data warehouse principles, star/snowflake schemas, and data governance practices.
- Experience with incident, problem, and change management. Strong experience in Operational governance of IT systems and ITIL procedures
- Familiarity with data platform ecosystems (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks) and modern data architecture patterns.
- Excellent coordination/communication and organization skill, initiative, self-motivated, multi-tasking, good ability to prioritize workload, and with flexibility to work extended hours.
- Ability to work effectively in teams, diverse group, other cultures, and complex environments. Fluency in English
