The Global Inventory & Planning Head leads end-to-end inventory and supply planning across East-West Seed. This role is accountable for global seed production planning across all generations, allocation of production to countries and third-party producers, and maintaining optimal inventory levels at both country and group level. The role provides strategic and operational leadership for Crop Supply Chain Planning, serves as the primary supply chain interface with Crop Managers, and supports countries on demand and supply planning. Global ownership of Supply Planning and Inventory KPIsparticularly Bulk Seed Inventory, DIO (Days Inventory Outstanding), and SLOB (Slow-Moving and Obsolete).
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Supply Management
- Translate consolidated sales demand forecasts into executable seed production plans (commercial, foundation, stock, and PDS trials) while maintaining optimal inventory levels aligned with DIO targets
- Develop a Sourcing Plan that achieves business results and mitigate risk by taking into consideration cost, reliability, lead times and regulatory requirements of receiving countries
- Allocate production volumes across countries and third-party producers in collaboration with Seed Production Specialists
- Manage third-party production contracts, deliveries, yield estimates, and supply updates
- Review sales forecasts, inventory positions, processing lead times, order status, and logistics
- Lead and drive Seed Operations actions through monthly S&OP meetings
- Support regional third-party production through resource mobilization, regular field visits, and SCM collaboration
- Contribute to long-range planning to align production capacity with business growth
Inventory & Performance Management
- Balance and optimize inventory at country and group levels
- Strengthen collaboration between Sales and Demand Planning to stabilize forecasts and reduce SLOB
- Monitor seed supply performance, address risks, and drive corrective actions
- Own global Supply Planning, Inventory, and Third-Party Production KPIs
- Build analytical and regulatory capability within the planning team
Financial Management
- Plan and control the function's OPEX, CAPEX, and COGS
- Develop business cases for capital investments supporting technology and capability improvements
Logistics & Quality
- Coordinate with Global Supply Chain to ensure on-time, in-full delivery of third-party seed production
- Continuously improve inbound and outbound seed logistics
- Ensure third-party and purchased seed meet EWS quality standards
ERP, & Master Data Support
- Partner with ICT to implement and support ERP/IBP planning modules
- Ensure accuracy and governance of planning-related master data across systems
People Leadership
- Build, develop, and retain a high-performing global Inventory & Planning team
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and learning
- Clearly define roles, capabilities, and expectations, and lead by example aligned with EWS values
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Agriculture or a related scientific field
- 1012 years experience, including 510 years in managerial roles within seed production and supply chain
- Strong knowledge of seed production, planning, and inventory management
- Proven leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- Strong ERP and planning system capability
- Results-driven, accountable, agile, and able to balance diverse stakeholder needs
- Fluent in English; additional international languages are an advantage
