Head of Agency Capability & Academy

Reports to: Chief Agency Officer

Position Summary

Head of Agency Capability & Academy is responsible for leading and developing the Agency Learning Academy to build a high-performing, professional, and future-ready agency force. This role oversees the design and execution of learning strategies, competency frameworks, licensing and certification programs, leadership development, sales capability enhancement, and digital learning initiatives to drive agent productivity, recruitment quality, customer experience, and business growth.

The role partners closely with Agency Management, Sales Leaders, Product Teams, Compliance, Operations, and external training providers to ensure learning interventions are aligned with business priorities and evolving market needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Learning Strategy & Academy Leadership

  • Develop and implement the Agency Learning Academy strategy aligned with business objectives and agency growth plans.
  • Establish a comprehensive learning roadmap covering new agent onboarding, sales capability development, leadership programs, and succession planning.
  • Lead the transformation of the academy into a modern, digital-first learning organization.
  • Manage academy budget, resources, and vendor relationships to maximize learning impact and ROI.

2. Agency Capability Development

  • Design and enhance competency frameworks for agents, unit managers, and agency leaders.
  • Develop learning journeys that improve sales effectiveness, customer advisory skills, financial planning capabilities, and business management competencies.
  • Introduce advanced learning programs for Wealth, Protection, Health, Investment-Linked, and High-Net-Worth (HNW) solutions.
  • Ensure continuous capability building across different agency segments and career stages.

3. Sales & Leadership Development

  • Build leadership programs for Agency Managers, Unit Managers, and future leaders.
  • Drive coaching culture and field management effectiveness across agency channels.
  • Develop programs to strengthen recruitment, retention, productivity, and team development capabilities.
  • Support succession planning and leadership pipeline development.

4. Licensing, Certification & Compliance Training

  • Oversee licensing, onboarding, and certification programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure mandatory training requirements are completed in accordance with OIC regulations and company standards.
  • Monitor training completion and competency assessment results.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams to strengthen governance and ethical selling practices.

5. Digital Learning & Training Innovation

  • Lead the adoption of digital learning platforms and AI-enabled learning solutions.
  • Implement blended learning methodologies, including classroom training, virtual learning, microlearning, and self-paced learning.
  • Leverage learning analytics to measure effectiveness and continuously improve learning outcomes.
  • Explore emerging technologies to enhance learner engagement and training effectiveness.

6. Performance Management & Learning Analytics

  • Establish and track learning KPIs and academy effectiveness metrics.
  • Analyze productivity, recruitment, licensing, activation, and retention indicators to identify capability gaps.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to optimize learning investments and business outcomes.
  • Present learning impact and performance updates to senior leadership.

7. Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with Agency Leadership, Regional Directors, Product Teams, Marketing, Operations, and HR to deliver business-relevant learning solutions.
  • Work closely with field leaders to identify capability gaps and develop targeted interventions.
  • Manage relationships with external training providers, professional institutions, and industry associations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, Insurance, Finance, or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in Agency Distribution, Learning & Development, Sales Training, or Insurance Training Academy.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale learning and development programs.
  • Strong understanding of insurance agency business, sales management, and financial advisory models.
  • Experience in leadership development, competency framework design, and training transformation.
  • Proven track record in driving learning programs that improve agency productivity and business performance.
  • English skills
