Job Description

Role Summary The Head of Sales & Distribution will serve as a key commercial engine of the company, holding full accountability for the strategic leadership, commercial performance, and operational excellence of the entire national branch distribution network. This role focuses on driving the growth of gross written premium (GWP), expanding market share, and optimizing profitability through a high-performing branch sales force, agency networks, and broker channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the national distribution strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives, market positioning, and profitability targets.
  • Sales & Revenue Management: Deliver national GWP targets, new business volumes, and renewal retention objectives across all branch locations and product lines.
  • Network & Channel Development: Oversee branch network expansion, format optimization, and strengthen relationships with agents, brokers, and strategic partners.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure all branches operate to the highest standards of operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and customer service.
  • People & Culture Leadership: Lead, inspire, and elevate a large, geographically dispersed sales organization, fostering a high-performance and ethical selling culture.
  • Digital Integration: Champion the adoption of digital sales tools, CRM platforms, and data analytics to maximize branch productivity and customer experience.
  • Financial Management: Manage the distribution cost base, branch operating expenses, and commission budgets within approved financial parameters.

Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline is required. An MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 15–20 years of progressive experience in general insurance or financial services sales and distribution, with at least 8–10 years in a senior leadership role managing large branch and agency networks.
  • Proven track record of consistently delivering GWP growth, meeting national sales targets, and managing budgets/P&L at a national level.
  • Deep technical knowledge of general insurance product lines, including motor, property, personal accident, health, travel, and commercial lines.
  • Strong understanding of insurance market conduct regulations, ethical selling standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to travel nationwide to visit branches, meet partners, and oversee regional sales activities (estimated 40–60% of working time).
