We are looking for a visionary
Data Team Lead to bridge the gap between our business goals and technical execution. You won't just be managing a team; you will be an architect of change.
Currently, we operate in a hybrid environment, utilizing both
traditional tools (SSIS) and a
modern data stack (BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake). We need a leader who can masterfully navigate both worldsensuring stability while driving a modern architectural vision that improves data quality, speeds up value release, and ultimately optimizes the learning journey for our students
What You'll Drive
- Strategic Architecture & Transformation: You will own the Blueprint. You will lead the design of our data architecture (business, application, and integration). Your goal is to modernize our stackmoving from legacy systems to modern cloud solutionswhile ensuring high data quality and continuous value release for our data products.
- Executive Partnership: You will sit at the table with the executive team to shape business strategy. You will represent data science and engineering, debating key strategic topics, and using insights to drive bold, high-impact business decisions.
- Team Leadership & Culture: Build and inspire a diverse team of expertsspanning machine learning, data engineering, and analytics. You will foster an inclusive, collaborative culture where data engineers and data scientists flourish together.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the connector between the Data Team and our Academic, Marketing, Finance, and Engineering departments. You will ensure data isn't a silo, but a shared language across the company.
- Project Vision: Define the short-term and long-term roadmap. You will prioritize projects that align with business goals, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to deliver the highest impact.
What You'll Bring
- Experience: Minimum 35 years of experience in a Data Team Lead, Manager, or Director role.
- The Hybrid Technologist: You have a broad technical background (Data Viz, Analytics, ML, Engineering). Crucially, you are comfortable managing a hybrid stackyou have experience with traditional ETL (SSIS) but possess deep expertise in modern cloud platforms (BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake).
- Mastery of Ambiguity: You are skilled at creating impact in complex problem spaces that lack easy empirical proof. You excel at blending data and scientific methods with strong business judgment to solve tangly issuessuch as characterizing our brand impact, quantifying human sentiment/emotion, or measuring user intent.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: You thrive in complex, matrixed organizations. You are skilled at collaborating and integrating your team's work with diverse disciplinesmarketing, finance, engineeringensuring data is not a silo, but a shared driver of success.
- Exceptional Communication & Inclusivity: You are articulate with both technical engineers and business partners. You create effective frameworks to make complicated topics easy to discuss. Most importantly, you are an active listener who is conscious of voices that have not yet been heard, ensuring diverse perspectives drive our decisions.
- Passion for Pedagogy: You are not just interested in the data; you care about the student. You are keen to gain deep insights into student learning journeys and pedagogy, using your skills to improve education.
- Business Acumen: You have an excellent sense of business metrics, especially within retail-like industries or e-commerce.
- Data Governance (A Plus): Experience establishing data governance frameworks is highly desirable. You understand how to define policies, standards, and metrics to ensure data integrity, security, and usability across both legacy and modern systems.
