Job Description

HEAD OF FINANCE & ACCOUNTING

Position Summary

The Head of Finance & Accounting leads all financial management, accounting, reporting, taxation, treasury, costing, inventory control, internal controls, compliance, and business planning activities. The role serves as a strategic partner to the Managing Director and Board while ensuring robust governance and profitability improvement.

Reporting Line

Reports to Managing Director with functional reporting to Group CFO

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

  • Drive financial strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to management and Board of Director.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning.

Accounting & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, TFRS and local statutory requirements.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close.
  • Coordinate external auditor to close the gap on audited Financial statements audit
  • Coordinate with internal audits.

Costing & Profitability

  • Maintain robust standard costing and product costing models.
  • Analyze gross margin and profitability by product, customer and channel.
  • Lead cost reduction and productivity initiatives.

Inventory Control

  • Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation.
  • Control slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure cycle count and stock take accuracy above target levels.

Internal Control & Risk

  • Implement strong financial and operational controls.
  • Monitor compliance with policies and delegation of authority.
  • Lead remediation of audit findings.

Cashflow and Working Capital Management

  • Monitor and optimize working capital through effective management of accounts receivable, inventory, and accounts payable.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to improve cash conversion cycle (CCC) and operating cash flow performance.
  • Establish robust cash management processes and controls to maximize cash visibility and utilization.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to improve receivables collection, inventory turnover, and payment terms.
  • Provide regular cash flow analysis and recommendations to Management, Group Finance, and the Board.

Treasury & Tax

  • Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, trade financing, and other funding arrangements.
  • Evaluate foreign exchange exposure and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure timely tax compliance and effective tax planning.

ERP & Process Improvement

  • Lead ERP implementation and optimization projects.
  • Promote automation, reporting efficiency and data integrity.

Team Leadership

  • Develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Coach and retain key finance talent.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Financial reporting issued within Group deadlines.
  • Zero material audit findings.
  • Inventory accuracy > 98%.
  • Working capital improvement and cash conversion targets achieved.
  • Annual cost reduction savings delivered versus budget.
  • Gross margin and EBITDA performance achieved.
  • ERP and process improvement milestones completed on schedule.
  • 100% compliance with statutory and tax filing requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or related field.
  • CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent preferred.
  • 12-15 years progressive finance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years as Finance Controller, Head of Finance or equivalent leadership role.
  • Strong automotive, manufacturing or distribution background.
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory-intensive businesses.
  • Proven track record in cost reduction and profitability improvement.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar ERP systems.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
