Careers for the Driven
Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Head of Human Resources, Rest of Asia (ROA) based in Bangkok, Thailand reporting directly to the HR Director, APAC. This is a hybrid opportunity, 2 days remote per week.
The Head of HR is responsible for delivering high-quality HR support across operational and strategic initiatives in the region. This role partners with functional leaders to provide expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, recruitment, compensation, and organizational development, while ensuring compliance with local employment laws and global HR policies.
How You'll Make An Impact
Human Resources Advisory (20%)
- Provide comprehensive HR advice to management and staff on both operational and strategic HR matters.
- Interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, and organisational frameworks.
- Offer guidance on employee work matters, development, and industrial relations.
- Maintain and optimize use of HRIS for HR functions and reporting.
Employee Relations (35%)
- Interpret and apply industrial instruments (eg Awards, Contracts, Legislation).
- Stay updated on employment laws and regulations across countries in the region.
- Support and coach managers through performance and conduct-related matters.
- Lead and manage the performance appraisal process.
Leadership (10%)
- Lead the HR function for Rest of Asia region, overseeing Payroll and HR Admin.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
- Act as a trusted partner to business leaders, contributing to strategic decision-making.
HR Administration & Reporting (10%)
- Drive reporting and analysis from sources such as exit interviews, employee engagement surveys, and HRIS.
- Contribute to strategic business planning and HR policy development.
- Maintain the HR section of the company intranet.
Remuneration and Benefits (5%)
- Collaborate with global compensation team on market competitiveness and role benchmarking.
- Support annual salary and incentive review processes.
- Monitor trends in pay and benefits across the region, in conjunction with global compensation team.
Training and Development (10%)
- Collaborate with the Talent Development team to plan and deliver training and development programs within the region.
- Implement and monitor Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for key employees and successors.
- Identify and track top talent and high-potential employees to ensure alignment with business needs.
- Drive talent review processes and support succession planning initiatives.
Recruitment and Selection (10%)
- Partner with hiring managers on recruitment needs and approvals.
- Recommend effective recruitment strategies and sourcing channels, working alongside Talent Acquisition team.
- Support development and use of selection tools and assessments.
- Conduct benchmarking and work with external recruitment partners when required.
Primary Interactions - Internal and External
- Internal: Senior leaders, department heads, employees, and global HR counterparts across regions.
- External: Recruitment partners, legal counsel, training vendors, external advisers.
What You Will Need
- A tertiary qualification with a specialty in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Industrial Relations or similar discipline
- 10+ years Human Resources management experience
- Experience working within a sales/marketing and/or manufacturing environment, from a HR perspective, with an appreciation of associated issues
- Strong knowledge of employment regulations across South East Asia
- Ability to speak in Thai
- Embodies the three virtues to be an ideal team player: hungry, humble and smart
What Will Set You Apart
- Ability to speak in Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia, or any other Asian language
- Knowledge using SAP Success Factors or other HRIS system
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, through all levels of an organization.
- Strong planning and organizational skills; excellent attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills and software knowledge, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and influencing skills; ability to obtain a win-win outcome
- Experience using and utilizing a Human Resources Information System
- Substantial hands on generalist human resources experience
- Strong background in driving a recruitment process from start to finish

- Up to 20% overseas travel
