Job Description

The Director of Operations will lead the enterprise technology operations function, with accountability for ensuring reliable, secure, and business-aligned technology services across the organization. This leader will bring deep, current expertise in Microsoft Purview, Entra, and Copilot, while also overseeing the full IT operations estate, including workplace technology, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, collaboration platforms, network services, and infrastructure.

The role's mission is to transform operations from a reactive support function into a proactive enabler of innovation, reducing friction for the business while maintaining transparency, compliance, and security.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the Operations strategy aligned to business objectives.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team covering workplace, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, networking, and infrastructure.
  • Establish KPIs and SLAs that measure performance, transparency, and innovation enablement.
  • Partner with peers in Data and Security to align IAM, governance, and data pipelines.

Identity & Governance (Entra + Purview)

  • Own enterprise IAM through Microsoft Entra: SSO, conditional access, federation to AWS, GCP, Oracle, and SaaS.
  • Extend Microsoft Purview from M365 into the broader data estate (cloud warehouses, databases, BI platforms).
  • Implement sensitivity labeling, cataloging, and lineage tracking for enterprise datasets.
  • Drive compliance alignment with ISO27001, GDPR, PDPA, and internal governance policies.

Microsoft 365 & Copilot Operation

  • Ensure smooth rollout, support, and adoption of Copilot across Office apps, Power Platform, and Studio.
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of M365 services (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Enable low-friction experimentation with new Microsoft features (Copilot agents, Graph connectors, Dataverse).
  • Drive proactive support that reduces permissioning barriers and accelerates innovation.

Workplace & End-User Services

  • Provide reliable workplace technology: laptops, mobile, collaboration tools, printing, and unified communications.
  • Manage device compliance, patching, and endpoint security.
  • Deliver an outstanding end-user support experience through service desk and field support.

Network & Infrastructure

  • Ensure robust, secure, and scalable enterprise network services (LAN/WAN/WiFi, VPN, SD-WAN).
  • Oversee hybrid infrastructure (cloud + on-prem), including resilience, capacity, and vendor management.
  • Partner with vendors and carriers to ensure uptime and performance SLAs are met.

Operational Optimization

  • Drive transformation of operations and service excellence through strategic outsourcing, automation, adoption of best practices, and AI-driven efficiency.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to reduce cost, increase agility, and remove operational friction.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and measurable performance.

Required Experience

  • 12+ years in enterprise IT operations leadership, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), Purview, Copilot, and Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
  • Proven experience with SharePoint Online, Teams, and collaboration platforms.
  • Strong background in networking, infrastructure, and workplace services.
  • Demonstrated success in optimizing operations via outsourcing, automation, and AI adoption.
  • Deep knowledge of IT governance frameworks such as COBIT, ITIL, ISO (27001/38500, 42001), and NIST.
  • Track record of leading large, cross-functional teams and vendor partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive proactive operational models that enable business innovation.
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication in English.
