Role: As our Head of QA, you'll take the wheel in ensuring quality is driven into the heart of all development processes throughout Manatal from requirement definitions through to delivery of releases in the production environment. Specifically, with your knowledge of investing methodologies and principles, you'll help identify and address potential risks to the process, employ QA best practices throughout the team, and break large and complex testing/automation problems into smaller, actionable steps forward for the team.
Your efforts will ensure that all developmental and QA processes within Manatal are significantly streamlined and that every product and service produced is of the utmost quality for our users to enjoy. You will work closely with the engineering team and product team to identify, document, and iron out bugs in the product. We sincerely believe that behind every successful product, there is a careful QA team. Hence you will have a significant role to play in stable and quality product releases.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the overall QA strategy, standards, and quality processes across products, features, and releases.
- Own QA Team OKRs
- Own QA Team KPIs to measure product quality, release readiness, defect trends, test effectiveness, and team performance.
- Develop and maintain test strategies for existing and upcoming features, products, and integrations.
- Lead and oversee functional, regression, exploratory, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing activities.
- Lead test automation strategy and implementation, including UI, API, integration, end-to-end, and load/performance testing.
- Own quality assurance before each release and provide release quality sign-off in partnership with Engineering and Product teams.
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, Support, and Customer Success teams to ensure smooth, timely, and reliable releases.
- Collaborate with developers to identify, prioritize, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and quality risks early in the development lifecycle.
- Improve CI/CD quality gates, test environments, test data, build validation, and other quality engineering processes to increase release confidence and speed.
- Oversee bug lifecycle management, including defect triage, root cause analysis, reporting, prioritization, and closure validation.
- Support investigation of production issues and provide guidance on complex customer-facing technical issues when needed.
- Partner with Engineering and relevant stakeholders to support security testing efforts, validate fixes, and contribute to vulnerability triage and remediation verification.
- Actively contribute to building strong company-wide quality processes, quality culture, and continuous improvement practices.
- Build, mentor, and scale the QA team by coaching existing team members and recruiting new talent as the company grows.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience leading software QA or test engineering in a SaaS or equivalent software product.
- Strong knowledge of QA principles, methodologies, and modern quality engineering practices.
- Experience defining, implementing, and tracking QA OKRs, KPIs, and quality metrics.
- Hands-on experience creating test strategies and test plans for web-based products and features.
- Strong experience with JavaScript and modern test automation frameworks such as Playwright.
- Experience with functional, regression, exploratory, integration, end-to-end, and API testing.
- Experience supporting production troubleshooting, incident analysis, and customer-facing issue resolution.
- Good understanding of modern software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple testing activities and clearly synthesize results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate quality risks, issues, and test outcomes to stakeholders.
- Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Experience with load and stress testing tools such as JMeter or equivalent.
- Familiarity with common web application security risks and secure testing practices.
- Experience with security testing, vulnerability triage, and validation of remediation for security findings is a plus.
