Job Summary
The Hospitality Interior Designer & CAD Technician will play a key role within greymatters expanding and specialist Hospitality team. Based in one of our Studios in Bangkok, Singapore, Vietnam or India (remotely), this position will work closely with the Design Director and Associate Director to deliver innovative and impactful design solutions across a diverse portfolio of hospitality, F&B, and resort projects.
As part of a collaborative and design-driven organisation, the successful candidate will interpret Client and Operator Briefs, contribute to the development of unique design concepts, and support projects from initial vision through to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive all design phases, including space planning and technical detailing, ensuring alignment with hospitality best practices and design intent.
- Collaborate with Team Leaders and Directors to ensure project deliverables meet brand standards and client briefs.
- Coordinate with consultants and clients to manage project timelines, deliverables, and strict compliance requirements.
- Supervise the production of comprehensive tender and construction drawing sets, specifications, and CAD packages.
- Manage the review process for shop drawings, material samples, strike-offs, and FFE templates for design compliance.
- Handle project resource allocation and timeline planning with the flexibility to manage multiple high-pressure projects.
- Lead and mentor subordinates, providing feedback, problem-solving support, and professional development guidance.
- Represent the firm in client presentations and project meetings, maintaining proactive communication with all stakeholders.
- Oversee CAD specialists to produce detailed drawings while maintaining and developing the firm's detail library and drawing templates.
- Enforce office drawing standards and manage archive files to ensure organizational consistency and quality control.
Education/Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum Tertiary related qualification (BA, BSc,) in Interior Design or Architecture
- At least 5 years of Hospitality Design-related experience in a professional Design organization
- Strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to create unique, non-repetitive hospitality designs
- Proven experience and exposure to Hospitality design across both urban and resort properties and F&B projects
- Substantial experience in multiple project coordination roles with strong self-motivation and organizational skills
Knowledge and Skills
- Possess adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office, InDesign, Photoshop, AutoCAD, and SketchUp,
- Knowledge of hospitality-grade materials, custom furniture construction, and fabric technical standards
- Expertise in complex millwork, joinery, and interior architectural detailing for luxury environments.
- High-level experience managing full Tender and Construction Documentation packages and reviewing shop drawings.
- Proven ability in project resource allocation, timeline planning
- Experience in markup work and guiding the professional development of junior designers or CAD specialists.
- Ability to proactively manage client and contractor relationships is a plus
- Practical experience in site inspections, snagging, and reviewing manufacturer prototypes is a plus
Language Proficiency
- English: Intermediate+ of written and spoken (English test certification is a plus (e.g., TOEIC or IELTS)
- Proficiency in the local language of the studio location is preferred.
Exposure (Other indirect experiences that would be beneficial to the role)
- A demonstration of a passion for design and a sincere interest in Hospitality design would be considered a prerequisite
- Prior experience with site supervision or project coordination/management is an advantage.
