Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To serve as the process owner of Employee Relations (ER) and Compensation & Benefits (C&B) for Mitsubishi Chemical Thailand operations, with full accountability across Bangkok, Chonburi, and Rayong locations, covering an employee population of approximately 220.

The role will drive a consistent, compliant, and competitive people framework by leading labor law adherence, policy formulation, and benefits restructuring, ensuring alignment with business needs and the regional HR strategy. Acting as a trusted partner to business group heads (Polymers Compounding, Performance Films, Engineering Plastics, and Trading) and key functional stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Internal Controls, and Regional HR), the role will enable sustainable business outcomes through effective and integrated people practices.

The position will be based in Chonburi, reporting to the MCT HR Head, and will lead a team of one to two direct reports, ensuring effective delivery of ER and C&B priorities across all locations.

Key Accountabilities:

Employee Relations & Workplace Governance

  • Lead internal communications between employees and management to build trust, transparency, and strong employer–employee relationships.
  • Enforce company policies, rules, and regulations, ensuring full compliance and disciplined workplace conduct.
  • Manage employee grievances, misconduct investigations, and disciplinary actions in coordination with Legal and relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with government authorities and external regulatory bodies on labor-related matters.

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Management

  • Design and continuously review salary structures and compensation frameworks to remain competitive and aligned with business and market realities.
  • Ensure fair, equitable, and performance-driven compensation and benefits practices aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Lead annual performance review cycles, consolidating outcomes and preparing recommendations on salary increments and bonus payouts for Executive Committee approval.
  • Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective coordination with Finance and relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage company-wide benefits programs and employee support, including expatriate compensation, taxation, and related ER/C&B matters.

Policy Formulation & International Mobility

  • Develop, review, and implement HR policies and frameworks, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and organizational standards.
  • Manage policies related to overseas assignments (GMP), including coordination with Regional HR and HRBPs.
  • Ensure policies are effectively communicated, implemented, and consistently applied across the organization.

Employee Engagement & Experience

  • Plan and oversee annual employee engagement initiatives (e.g., company gatherings, sports events, cultural activities) to foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance employee motivation, engagement, and retention in line with market competitiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with internal HR teams and participate actively in MCT HR forums and governance meetings, providing updates on key initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Internal Controls, Business Divisions) to deliver integrated HR solutions.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive process efficiency and service quality improvements across ER and C&B, ensuring streamlined and integrated service delivery.
  • Support additional responsibilities and strategic initiatives as assigned, including restructuring, compliance, and transformation projects.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Industrial/Labor Relations, Organizational Development, Political Science, or Psychology.

Experience and Skills:

  • 10–15 years of progressive HR experience, including roles as HR Head, HR Business Partner, or HR Operations Lead.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment, with exposure to managing both white- and blue-collar workforce segments.

Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in core HR domains, particularly Employee Relations and Compensation & Benefits.
  • In-depth knowledge of Thai labor laws, social security regulations, labor standards, occupational safety requirements, and related statutory frameworks.
  • Well-versed in local employment regulations and compliance practices in Thailand.
  • Proficiency in Thai and English (written and spoken) to effectively engage with Thailand and Regional stakeholders
  • Good understanding of payroll systems, taxation, and statutory deductions.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, co-pilot, particularly Excel and Word for data analysis and reporting.
