Job Description

The IT Engineer is responsible for the secure, reliable, and effective operation of the school's IT infrastructure, core systems, and digital learning platforms. The role is primarily hands‑on, with a strong focus on infrastructure operations, Microsoft 365 administration, and core school systems, while also contributing to end‑user support, cybersecurity operations, and IT projects.

The position operates in alignment with EiM standards and supports both day‑to‑day school operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure & Technical Operations

  • Support, maintain, and troubleshoot the school's core IT infrastructure, including servers, network switches, wireless systems, and end‑user devices.
  • Administer Windows Server environments (2022/2025), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and PowerShell‑based automation.
  • Support virtualization platforms such as VMware or equivalent hyper‑converged infrastructure (HCI) solutions.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Manage Windows 11 and macOS endpoints, including configuration, patching, and compliance.
  • Support Mobile Device Management (MDM) and endpoint security platforms.
  • Monitor system performance, network availability, and security alerts (e.g. firewalls, wireless systems).
  • Assist with the implementation and operation of EiM security controls, including EDR, DNS security, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Monitor backup operations and support data restoration activities.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory and manage the full asset lifecycle, ensuring devices are correctly onboarded into security and management platforms.

2. Core School Systems & Application Support

  • Provide operational support for core school systems, including:
  • iSAMS (Student Information System)
  • Learning Management Systems (e.g. Microsoft Teams, school‑based LMS, or EiM‑approved platforms)
  • Safeguarding systems (e.g. CPOMS or equivalent)
  • Support data imports, exports, validation, and reconciliation across school systems.
  • Assist with system integrations between platforms (e.g. iSAMS and Microsoft 365).
  • Liaise with system vendors for technical troubleshooting under the direction of the IT Manager.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, access controls, and integrations.
  • Support periodic access reviews and data governance checks.

3. IT Service & End‑User Support

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to staff and students.
  • Follow established IT service management processes for incident, service request, and change management.
  • Support teaching and learning by ensuring reliable classroom technology and providing responsive in‑class assistance when required.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and application issues.
  • Support classroom AV systems and digital learning environments.
  • Provide IT support during school events when required.
  • Maintain accurate incident records and contribute to meeting agreed service level targets.
  • Actively contributes to continuous improvement of service quality and user satisfaction.

4. Cybersecurity & Compliance Support

  • Support the enforcement of EiM cybersecurity policies, standards, and controls.
  • Assist with compliance activities in line with local Thai regulatory requirements.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and security hardening activities.
  • Escalate security incidents in accordance with group and school procedures.
  • Assist with implementation of data protection and access control measures across infrastructure and applications.
  • Provide filtering, monitoring, and e‑safety reporting where required.
  • Support technical security reviews related to vendors and third‑party systems when applicable.

5. Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Support IT project delivery under the direction of the IT Manager.
  • Assist with system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date technical documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Actively develop technical skills and remain current with relevant technologies and best practices.

Additional Information

  • Occasional out‑of‑hours or on‑call support may be required during critical incidents, system changes, or school events.

Skills and Experience Required

  • 3–5 years experience in an IT infrastructure, systems, or application support role.
  • Hands‑on experience with Windows Server administration and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience supporting network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and wireless systems.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with endpoint management and MDM solutions.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting school or education‑sector systems (e.g. iSAMS, LMS platforms).
  • Experience working in an educational environment or similar regulated environment.
  • Exposure to automation or scripting (e.g. PowerShell).
