ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Head Media EC qualification activities to ensure alignment with business requirements, including schedule, performance, and risk assessment.
  • Serve as the key technical interface between HDD and Head/Media component teams to ensure engineering requirements are clearly defined, aligned, and successfully executed.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to enable timely EC readiness and support overall product and business objectives.
  • Monitor qualification progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans to ensure successful execution.
  • Provide technical assessment and data-driven recommendations to support engineering and business decisions.

This position is part of our Early Career program at WD. Our Early Career program is designed to support individuals beginning their professional career by providing the foundational training through a structured onboarding, mentorship, and development curriculum.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of HDD architecture, Head/Media interaction, and component qualification processes.
  • Experience in engineering qualification, product integration, or component validation.
  • Ability to analyze engineering data and make data-driven technical assessments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in Head/Media qualification, EC management, or HDD integration processes.
  • Knowledge of magnetic recording technology and HDD component interactions.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including HDD integration, component engineering, and manufacturing teams.
  • Familiarity with qualification methodology, risk assessment, and engineering change processes.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, Python, Excel, or similar tools.
  • Demonstrated ownership and ability to lead qualification activities from planning to execution.
