We are seeking an experienced Lead AI Engineer to architect, build, and scale enterprise-grade AI systems. This role combines deep hands-on technical expertise with technical leadership, governance oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. You will lead end-to-end AI initiatives - from research and model development to deployment, monitoring, and optimization - while mentoring engineers and shaping the organization's AI roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
AI Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Define and own AI/ML system architecture and engineering standards.
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of ML, Deep Learning, and LLM-based solutions.
- Conduct advanced benchmarking, evaluation, and model validation.
- Drive best practices in scalable and production-ready AI engineering.
Advanced AI/ML Model Development
- Architect and oversee training, fine-tuning, and optimization of models (including LLMs, RAG pipelines, and generative AI systems).
- Guide model selection strategies aligned to business goals.
- Optimize performance, latency, and cost-efficiency.
Data Engineering & Scalable Pipelines
- Design and supervise scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Establish data quality frameworks, governance standards, and feature engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to enable real-time and batch processing systems.
Model Deployment & Enterprise MLOps
- Lead implementation of CI/CD pipelines for ML workflows.
- Oversee containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Implement model monitoring, drift detection, bias detection, and automated retraining mechanisms.
- Ensure robust versioning, experiment tracking, and observability frameworks.
AI System Integration & Platform Engineering
- Architect AI integration into enterprise applications, APIs, and microservices.
- Drive inference optimization strategies for scalability and cost control.
- Contribute to building internal AI platforms or reusable AI frameworks.
Responsible AI & Governance
- Establish responsible AI guidelines and governance frameworks.
- Ensure fairness, transparency, explainability, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with risk, compliance, and legal teams on AI controls and documentation.
Research, Innovation & Strategy
- Stay ahead of advancements in AI/ML, LLMs, and emerging frameworks.
- Evaluate and prototype new tools and technologies.
- Contribute to the organization's AI strategy and long-term roadmap.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Mentor and guide AI engineers and data scientists.
- Translate business problems into scalable AI solutions.
- Communicate technical trade-offs, risks, and ROI to senior leadership.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across product, engineering, and business teams.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Establish KPIs for AI system performance and cost optimization.
- Lead incident resolution and root cause analysis for production AI systems.
- Continuously improve system reliability, accuracy, and governance maturity.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in AI/ML development.
- Deep expertise in Python and ML/DL frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).
- Strong experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG architectures, or generative AI.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong MLOps experience (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow, CI/CD pipelines).
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and system design.
- Experience building enterprise-scale AI platforms.
- Exposure to explainability tools (SHAP, LIME) and AI governance frameworks.
- Experience in regulated industries (FinTech, Banking, Healthcare).
- Prior experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
