About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing fintech company building a high-scale investment platform used by millions of active users. As the platform grows, they're investing in senior engineering talent to build secure, reliable, and scalable backend systems that power critical business functions.
They're looking for Lead Backend Engineers to provide technical leadership across the engineering organization. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone who enjoys solving complex distributed systems challenges while influencing engineering standards across multiple teams.
The Role
You'll help define the long-term technical direction of the backend platform, partnering with Engineering, Product, Platform, and Security teams to design scalable architectures, improve engineering practices, and deliver systems that support rapid business growth.
This is a technical leadership role, not people management. You'll contribute directly to architecture and implementation while mentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence across the organization.
What You'll Do
- Design and evolve scalable, highly available backend architectures for millions of users.
- Lead technical decisions around distributed systems, scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
- Build and improve mission-critical backend services using modern engineering practices.
- Drive architecture reviews, engineering standards, and software quality across multiple teams.
- Partner with Product, Platform, Infrastructure, and Security teams to deliver scalable technical solutions.
- Improve observability, monitoring, incident response, and overall platform reliability.
- Mentor senior engineers and promote strong engineering practices through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
What They're Looking For
Required
- Extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale backend systems.
- Strong backend development experience with Go or Java.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native architecture, and concurrency.
- Experience designing highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-performance systems.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as:
- Apache Kafka (or similar event streaming platforms)
- Redis (or similar caching technologies)
- Relational and NoSQL databases
- AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
- Strong knowledge of performance optimization, secure software design, and system reliability.
- Proven ability to influence architecture and technical strategy across multiple engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience).
- Professional fluency in English.

- Experience in fintech, financial services, or other regulated industries.
- Experience operating high-concurrency, mission-critical systems.
- Familiarity with platform engineering, DevOps, and large-scale cloud infrastructure.
