This position demands strong
systemlevel thinking, deep BMS expertise, and technical leadership to ensure safety, scalability, reliability, and longterm performance of fielddeployed energy storage assets.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Ownership
- Act as technical lead and subjectmatter expert (SME) for BMS architecture in stationary BESS products.
- Own systemlevel BMS requirements, interfaces, and design decisions.
- Review and approve BMS designs, algorithms, and implementation from junior engineers.
- Mentor and technically guide engineers across firmware, validation, and system integration.
BESS Controller & System Design
- Lead the design and development of BESS controller architecture, coordinating BMS, PCS, EMS, and SCADA interfaces.
- Define systemlevel control strategies for longduration, highcapacity battery systems.
- Ensure scalability across multirack, containerized, and MW/MWhscale deployments.
BMS Firmware & Algorithms
- Architect and guide development of RTOSbased BMS firmware (C / C++).
- Lead implementation and tuning of advanced BMS features:
- Cell and module monitoring
- Passive and active cell balancing algorithms
- Protection, derating, and control logic
- Ensure firmware follows safetycritical and reliabilityfocused design practices.
Communication & Integration
- Define and govern communication architectures:
- CAN / CAN FD for internal BESS communication
- Modbus RTU / TCP for EMS, PCS, and SCADA
- Own interface specifications and sequencing between BMS, PCS, and EMS.
- Support gridinterface and system commissioning requirements.
Validation, Safety & HIL
- Lead HIL (HardwareintheLoop) strategy and execution for BMS and systemlevel validation.
- Define test coverage for:
- Normal and edgecase operation
- Gridrelevant fault and abuse scenarios
- Architect and tune diagnostics and protection strategies for:
- Electrical faults (over/under voltage, current)
- Thermal faults
- Insulation resistance and communication failures
- Ensure compliance with relevant stationary storage safety and reliability standards.
OTA, Cybersecurity & Field Reliability
- Architect secure OTA firmware update frameworks for longlife, fielddeployed BESS.
- Ensure robustness, failsafe operation, and rollback strategies.
- Drive cybersecurity awareness for connected energy systems.
Product Lifecycle & Field Support
- Lead technical support for:
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Commissioning and deployments
- Perform systemlevel root cause analysis (RCA) of field issues.
- Feed lessons learned into design, firmware, and validation improvements.
- Own technical documentation, system specifications, and validation reports.
Required Skills & ExperienceCore Technical Expertise
- 12–15 years of experience in BMS, embedded systems, or energy storage product development.
- Strong handson expertise in:
- RTOSbased embedded firmware (C / C++)
