Position Overview:
The Lead Data Architect is responsible for defining and governing Caldic's enterprise-wide data architecture across Master Data Management (MDM), the Global Data Platform (GDP), and Analytics environments. This role ensures alignment between business strategy and data architecture, driving the design of scalable, secure, and integrateddata solutions that enable high-quality, trusted data across the organization.
Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, the Lead Data Architect establishes enterprise data standards, provides technical leadership to Data Architects and Data Engineers, and serves as the subject matter expert for data modelling, integration, and architecture principles. This is a global role reporting to the Chief Data Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and govern the enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Establish enterprise standards, guidelines, and best practices for data modelling across business domains.
- Ensure alignment between business objectives and data architecture to support scalable and sustainable solutions.
- Define and maintain the system-of-record strategy and data ownership across enterprise platforms.
- Design and oversee architecture for Master Data Management (MDM), the Global Data Platform (GDP), and analytics environments.
- Lead the design of data integration patterns, data flows, and interoperability between business systems.
- Ensure the scalability, performance, security, and resilience of the enterprise data landscape.
- Partner with Data Governance, Data Management, Product Owners, and IT teams to ensure alignment with data standards, governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide architectural oversight and technical guidance for enterprise data initiatives and transformation programs.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to Data Architects and Data Engineers, supporting the adoption of architecture best practices.
- Act as the escalation point for complex data architecture and integration decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement of enterprise data architecture, standards, and capabilities.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Extensive experience in enterprise data architecture, data modelling, or solution architecture within complex global organisations.
- Strong expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling.
- Deep understanding of Master Data Management (MDM), enterprise data platforms, and integration architectures.
- Experience designing modern cloud-based data platforms and modern data ecosystems.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise data governance, data quality, and data management principles.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical architecture.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to bridge business and technology teams.
- Proven leadership experience in guiding technical teams and driving enterprise architecture initiatives.
- Experience working in global, cross-functional environments is highly desirable.
