Lead, IT Business Analysis - Trading / Investment Bank

Responsibilities:

• This role combines people leadership, stakeholder engagement, hands-on business analysis, and delivery ownership across a range of strategic and operational projects.
• The successful candidate will lead a Singapore-based BA team while partnering closely with stakeholders across Middle Office, Market Risk, Product Control, Quantitative Analytics, Finance, Accounting, and Settlements functions. The role requires both leadership capability and the ability to perform complex business analysis independently.
• Key Responsibilities
• Team Leadership & Development
• Lead and manage a team of Business Analysts, including performance management, coaching, mentoring, and career development.
• Establish and promote BA best practices, quality standards, and delivery methodologies.
• Conduct regular 1-to-1s, objective setting, and growth planning for team members.
• Support organisational planning and contribute to the evolution of the BA function.
• Provide oversight and quality assurance across BA deliverables.
• Stakeholder Management & Business Engagement
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Middle Office, Risk, Treasury, Finance, and Operations.
• Facilitate prioritisation discussions and drive decision-making across competing business demands.
• Present recommendations and project updates to senior stakeholders.
• Act as a trusted advisor by analysing business processes and proposing practical, scalable solutions.
• Business Analysis & Project Delivery
• Gather, analyse, document, and manage business requirements from inception through implementation.
• Conduct current-state and future-state assessments, gap analyses, and solution evaluations.
• Translate business requirements into user stories, functional specifications, and process documentation.
• Partner with developers, architects, QA teams, and vendors to ensure alignment throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Support estimation, planning, testing, UAT, training, deployment, and post-implementation activities.
• Act as Product Owner for BAU initiatives, managing delivery backlogs and prioritisation.
• Operational Support
• Support business users with functional queries and issue resolution.
• Investigate production issues through data analysis and root-cause identification.
• Perform hands-on analysis of trade, position, risk, and financial data.
• Coordinate solution delivery and change implementation across multiple teams.
• Ways of Working
• Operate effectively within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.
• Maintain high-quality documentation using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Explore and drive appropriate adoption of AI and GenAI tools to enhance project delivery and BA effectiveness.

Requirements:

• Essential
• 5–10 years of Business Analysis experience within:
• Commodities trading organisations
• Investment banks
• Tier-1 consulting firms or technology vendors serving capital markets and trading clients
• Experience supporting trading, risk, finance, or post-trade functions.
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to query data independently for investigation and analysis.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex business and technology change initiatives.
• Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and team management.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience owning requirements throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
• Preferred
• Experience with ETRM or trade lifecycle systems.
• Experience working with Middle Office, Risk, Treasury, Finance, or Accounting stakeholders.
• Knowledge of system architecture, integration patterns, and solution design.
• Experience presenting to senior management and executive stakeholders.
• Familiarity with AI/GenAI tools used in business analysis or project delivery.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Exposure to both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
