We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior System Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Linux system administration and, ideally, a solid understanding of SAP environments on SUSE Linux. This role involves managing and optimizing our SUSE Linux infrastructure, ensuring system performance, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Linux System Administration:
- Administer and manage (preferably) SUSE Linux servers, ensuring high performance, stability, and security.
- Perform routine system maintenance, including patching, updates, and configuration changes specific to SUSE Linux.
- SAP on SUSE Linux:
- Provide support for SAP environments running on SUSE Linux, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with SAP administrators (SAP BASIS) and developers to optimize SAP performance and resolve issues within SUSE Linux environments.
- System Optimization:
- Monitor system performance and resource utilization to ensure optimal operation.
- Implement and manage performance tuning and system optimization strategies for SUSE Linux.
- Security Management:
- Apply security best practices to Linux servers, including hardening configurations and managing access controls.
- Conduct regular security assessments and address vulnerabilities promptly.
- Backup and Recovery:
- Design and manage backup and recovery solutions for Linux environments to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Test and validate backup and recovery processes regularly.
- Capacity Planning:
- Plan and forecast system capacity requirements based on current and anticipated workloads.
- Develop strategies for scaling resources to meet growing demands.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to address technical issues and support various IT projects.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:
- Extensive experience with SUSE Linux system administration, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
- Preferably experience with SAP environments on SUSE Linux, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and system management.
- Experience with monitoring and performance management tools specific to SUSE Linux.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior system engineering role or similar position.
- Proven track record in managing complex SUSE Linux environments and providing support for SAP on SUSE Linux is highly desirable.
- Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certification (e.g., SUSE Certified Engineer) is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
