Manager, GIB Consumer Banking - Product Management MY

Job Purpose

Support the development, enhancement, governance, and performance management of the Bank's Islamic Retail Banking products and services. The role works closely with Strategic Business Units (SBUs), internal stakeholders, regulators, and external partners to ensure products remain commercially competitive, operationally efficient, Shariah-compliant, and aligned with the Bank's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities *

Product Development & Lifecycle Management

Manage and establish strong working relationships with Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and key stakeholders to develop, enhance and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of Islamic Retail Banking products and services. Responsibilities include:

• Lead and support new product development, product enhancement and product rationalisation initiatives.
• Provide advisory on product structuring, Shariah requirements, customer proposition and commercial viability.
• Review and provide recommendations on product proposals, legal documentation and operational processes.
• Partner with Technology and Operations on system development, implementation and product enhancements.
• Coordinate product implementation activities to ensure timely and successful launches. • Review papers requiring Shariah & Governance Department, Board Shariah Committee and Management approvals.
• Facilitate approvals from internal governance committees and external regulators where applicable.
• Manage communication and resolution of Shariah, legal and regulatory matters.
• Engage with regulators and industry bodies on product-related matters.
• Act as the Product Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide advisory and guidance to internal stakeholders.

Product Governance, Operational Excellence & Risk Management

Drive operational excellence by ensuring products are delivered in accordance with regulatory requirements, Shariah principles and internal governance standards. Responsibilities include:

• Monitor product performance and recommend operational improvements.
• Review and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operational workflows and customer journeys.
• Provide advisory on operational processes, system enhancements and implementation readiness.
• Ensure compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) requirements, Shariah standards and internal policies.
• Perform product risk assessments and evaluate operational, regulatory and customer impacts.
• Support Product Implementation Reviews (PIR), post-implementation reviews and governance reporting.
• Work closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations and Technology to resolve product-related issues and improve operational efficiency.
• Drive continuous improvements to strengthen customer experience and service delivery.

Business Performance, Market Intelligence & Analytics

Monitor, analyse and evaluate business, product and market performance to support strategic decisionmaking. Responsibilities include:

• Conduct market research, competitor benchmarking and industry analysis.
• Analyse portfolio performance, customer behaviour and profitability trends.
• Translate raw data into meaningful business insights and strategic recommendations.
• Prepare management reports, dashboards and presentation materials for senior management.
• Identify business opportunities and recommend product enhancements based on market intelligence.
• Guide and coach business stakeholders in data interpretation and analytical capabilities.

Stakeholder & Project Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of product initiatives. Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with SBUs and cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables, dependencies and stakeholder expectations.
• Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to ensure timely implementation of product enhancements.
• Facilitate discussions, resolve issues and drive consensus among stakeholders.
• Promote a collaborative, customer-centric and results-oriented working environment.

Strategic Initiatives & Management Assignments

Support strategic initiatives and special projects to achieve the Bank's long-term objectives. Responsibilities include:

• Prepare product-related submissions for awards, credit rating exercises, regulatory responses and strategic initiatives.
• Participate in industry working groups, regulatory engagements and strategic projects.
• Undertake special assignments and ad-hoc projects as directed by Management.
• Support the development and execution of the Retail Islamic Banking product strategy.

Relevant Work Experience

At least 5 years working experience in banking including several years experience in the Retail Financial Industry. Regional and/ or Islamic banking experience would be an added advantage.
