About the Role

Ranger Buddies is seeking a technically strong and delivery-focused Engineering Platform and Delivery Manager/Senior Manager to lead the engineering delivery, reliability, and operational excellence of the Ranger Buddies Mission Platform.

This role will be responsible for ensuring that platform features are delivered on time, production releases are stable, and technical issues are resolved quickly with minimal disruption. Working closely with Product, Operations, and outsourced engineering vendors, the Engineering Platform and Delivery Manager/Senior Manager will translate business priorities into clear execution plans and hold delivery partners accountable for quality, timelines, and technical standards.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering judgement with hands-on troubleshooting capability. You should be comfortable reviewing architecture and implementation approaches, investigating production issues across the application stack, and guiding external engineering teams towards reliable, scalable, and high-quality outcomes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Engineering Delivery & Vendor Management

• Own end-to-end engineering delivery for the Ranger Buddies Mission Platform, from planning and development through production release.
• Plan and manage sprint execution, delivery milestones, release schedules, and engineering dependencies.
• Ensure engineering work is aligned with business priorities, product roadmap, and partner deployment timelines.
• Lead day-to-day execution with outsourced engineering teams and hold vendors accountable for delivery quality, timelines, productivity, and technical standards.
• Review technical proposals, architecture decisions, implementation approaches, and estimates; challenge assumptions and remove delivery blockers.

Platform Reliability & Incident Management

• Maintain a stable, reliable, and highly available platform across attractions, schools, retail environments, and partner locations.
• Lead production incident management, technical investigation, root cause analysis, and communication with relevant stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across the application stack by reviewing logs, monitoring signals, integrations, infrastructure, and application behaviour.
• Coordinate rapid issue resolution with engineering vendors while minimising downtime and customer impact.
• Drive preventative improvements that reduce recurring incidents, operational risk, and technical debt.

Release Quality & Operational Excellence

• Own the engineering release process from development and quality assurance through production deployment.
• Ensure releases are thoroughly tested, backward compatible, and do not introduce regressions or breaking changes.
• Review implementation quality and release readiness before production deployment.
• Continuously improve automated testing, manual validation, CI/CD pipelines, deployment controls, monitoring, and observability.
• Champion a bug-free-by-design culture focused on prevention, deployment confidence, minimal downtime, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Engineering Improvement

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Operations, the Engineering Lead, UX/UI Designers, and external engineering vendors.
• Translate business and operational requirements into clear technical execution plans and delivery priorities.
• Support successful mission launches, partner deployments, and ongoing platform enhancements.
• Improve engineering workflows, technical documentation, decision-making processes, and delivery governance.
• Identify opportunities to use AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to improve development productivity, troubleshooting, and software quality.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years leading engineering delivery or managing engineering teams.
• Proven experience managing outsourced software development vendors and distributed delivery teams.
• Strong experience troubleshooting production systems and supporting customer-facing web platforms with high-availability requirements.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of modern cloud-native web applications, system architecture, APIs, authentication, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and observability.
• Working familiarity with Next.js and React, Azure Container Apps, Terraform, Contentful CMS, OAuth2 and Supertokens, REST APIs and GraphQL, and GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with platform and product tools such as Mixpanel, HubSpot, Segment, Cloudinary, Figma, and Miro.
• Ability to review architecture and code-level implementation, analyse application logs, identify root causes, and guide vendors towards effective technical resolutions.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot to improve productivity, code quality, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of modern AI-assisted development workflows, including agentic coding, harnesses, reusable skills, feedback loops, and human-in-the-loop review.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and decisive, with the ability to manage multiple delivery workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong ownership mindset with a focus on reliability, minimal downtime, bug prevention, and high-quality production releases.
