Job Description

At TNG Digital, part of TNG Digital Group, we build the tech behind TNG eWallet, one of Malaysia's most used apps for payments and everyday life.

Millions of people rely on us daily, not just to pay, but to manage money, access financial services, and get things done faster and simpler.

Behind it all is a team that likes to question how things are done, move quickly, and try new ideas. If you enjoy solving real problems and seeing your work used at scale, you will feel right at home here.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Tax Manager to lead the operational execution of the Group's tax function across all jurisdictions, with Malaysia and Singapore as the primary focus. This role is critical in supporting TNGD Group's business expansion, strengthening tax compliance, transfer pricing, indirect tax, and e-invoice capabilities.

Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will own the day-to-day running of the tax function — ensuring robust governance, timely filings, accurate reporting, and efficient tax systems and processes. You will lead compliance programmes, manage external advisors, and partner with Finance, Legal, Tech, and Business Operations to embed tax considerations across the Group. This role offers strong exposure to a broad tax portfolio in a fast-growing digital business.

What You'll Do:

Corporate Tax Compliance

  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and submission of corporate tax returns across Group entities in Asia Pacific, with Malaysia and Singapore as the primary focus. You will coordinate with Finance Operations on tax questionnaires, resolve queries from appointed tax agents, and review tax computations and returns before submission to ensure consistency across the Group.
  • Drive the tax estimation process, working with finance and business teams to align estimated tax payable with forecasted profitability and minimize under/over estimation exposure.
  • Prepare quarterly provisional tax computations to support financial reporting, ensuring current and deferred tax balances, provisions, and effective tax rate reconciliations are accurate and supportable.
  • Liaise with external auditors on tax-related balances, provisions, and disclosures.
  • Stay abreast of Malaysian tax legislation, LHDN guidance, and judicial decisions, and advise the business on implications and required actions.

Indirect Tax Advisory and Compliance

  • Act as the trusted in-house advisor on SST, GST and WHT matters, providing strategic tax input on new products, services, projects, and business initiatives. You will collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate tax implications, structure transactions, and support commercial negotiations before execution.
  • Review SST-02 and WHT returns for accuracy and timeliness, and continuously assess reporting workflows to identify process improvements that enhance efficiency without compromising compliance.

Transfer Pricing

  • Ensure the Group maintains contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation, including Master File and Local File, in compliance with the Income Tax Act 1967 and the Malaysia Transfer Pricing Guidelines.
  • Advise and establish arm's-length pricing policies for all intercompany transactions, ensuring consistency with the Group's TP framework and commercial substance.
  • Structure intercompany arrangements to support tax efficiency while remaining compliant with TP guidelines and OECD principles.
  • Engage and manage external advisors for benchmarking studies and specialist TP advice.
  • Monitor OECD and Malaysian TP developments and assess their impact on the Group.

Tax Audit and Dispute Management

  • Manage tax audits and investigations by LHDN and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department across CIT, SST, WHT, and TP matters.
  • Prepare supporting schedules, coordinate audit fieldwork, draft formal responses to findings, and negotiate with tax officers to achieve timely closure.
  • Lead dispute resolution, including objections (Form Q), appeals, and settlement negotiations, with support from external consultants and legal advisors where required.

E-Invoice Compliance

  • Lead the Group's e-invoice compliance programme under the LHDN MyInvois regime, ensuring mandatory requirements are met across relevant legal entities and business lines.
  • Oversee monthly reconciliation of e-invoice transactions against management accounts, monitor validation status and exception handling, and ensure completeness and accuracy of reported data.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on e-invoice implementation for new entities, ensuring successful rollout and providing technical insights to the implementation team.
  • Drive continuous improvement of e-invoice processes, controls, and system capabilities.

Tax Planning and Advisory

  • Deliver proactive tax structuring advice and impact assessments for business expansion, new product launches, corporate actions, M&A, and cross-border arrangements.
  • Support the Group's capital markets readiness and corporate development initiatives, including tax due diligence, tax structuring for strategic transactions, and preparation of tax disclosures for regulatory submissions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue available tax incentives, allowances, and reliefs, working closely with external advisors and relevant authorities to optimize the Group's tax position.
  • Keep pace with legislative and regulatory developments, assess their commercial and financial impact, and communicate clear, actionable updates to senior management.

Role Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or professional qualification (ICAEW/ACCA/CPA) or equivalent.
  • 8-10 years of relevant tax experience, with strong technical knowledge of Malaysian and Singapore tax law and practice, including exposure to CIT, SST, GST, WHT, transfer pricing, and tax audits. Experience with other multi-jurisdictions of tax environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech or digital payments industry is an added advantage.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and tax problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear, practical business advice.
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic, high integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
