JOB SCOPE: This position is a key member of a multidisciplinary engineering team comprising hardware, software, electronics, mechanical, systems, and test development engineers. The role is responsible for the design, implementation, and verification of new product testers, from initial test concept through production deployment.
The position also has direct responsibility for managing the Product Test Development Engineering team and ensuring successful delivery of engineering projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform engineering design evaluations and ensure projects are completed within defined resources, budgets, and schedules.
- Ensure engineering projects, initiatives, and processes comply with established organizational policies, standards, and objectives.
- Apply extensive technical experience and sound engineering judgment to plan, prioritize, and accomplish project goals.
- Develop, implement, and maintain engineering projects related to technologies, tools, and processes supporting current and future product testing and development.
- Develop product requirements and project-level test plans, including schedules, dependencies, risks, deliverables, milestones, and target completion dates.
- Develop, implement, and maintain individual development and cross-training programs for engineering staff.
- Manage and develop engineering team members while ensuring effective resource allocation and technical capability development.
- Communicate and coordinate development activities and priorities with the VP of Engineering, Product Development Engineering Director, engineering leaders, business stakeholders, operations teams, and other relevant resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to create and review product technical specifications and design requirements to achieve productivity and yield targets.
- Participate in peer reviews covering product design, functionality, manufacturability, and testability.
- Ensure good engineering practices are followed, including the use of prescribed tools for development, documentation, configuration management, and version control.
- Follow standard business policies, procedures, engineering processes, and associated tools.
- Identify project risks and technical challenges and drive appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering/technical field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on professional experience in embedded software, test software, product testing, and/or test development.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing engineering staff and engineering projects.
- Equivalent combinations of relevant education and professional experience may also be considered.
