Position Overview:
The Master Data Management (MDM) Team Lead is responsible for leading Caldic's global Data Management function, ensuring the efficient delivery of Master Data Management (MDM) operations across global, regional, and local teams. This role oversees the execution of master data processes, drives continuous improvements in data quality, and ensures services are delivered in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
As the central point of contact for master data initiatives, the MDM Team Lead partners with business, IT, and Data Governance stakeholders to establish best practices, support data-driven transformation, and ensure trusted, high-quality master data across the enterprise. The role also serves as the Product Owner for the MDM platform and leads a global team focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the global Master Data Management (MDM) organization, providing direction, coaching, and support to the Data Management team.
- Ensure the timely and accurate execution of master data operations, including data creation, validation, maintenance, updates, and deactivation, in accordance with agreed SLAs and standard procedures.
- Oversee the resolution of master data quality issues through established issue management processes and drive root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Manage external service providers and ensure service delivery meets agreed performance and quality standards.
- Drive initiatives to improve data quality, operational efficiency, and master data processes across the organization.
- Lead data cleansing, data migration, and master data activities supporting ERP implementations, system migrations, and onboarding of new business partners.
- Define and implement roles, responsibilities, and ways of working across global, regional, and local Data Management teams.
- Foster collaboration between business, IT, Data Governance, and other stakeholders to support enterprise data objectives.
- Partner with the Data Governance Office to define and maintain data standards, data policies, data glossary, data catalog, and data quality rules.
- Contribute to data modelling, system integration, and the development of the Data Management roadmap.
- Act as the Product Owner for the Master Data Management (MDM) platform, ensuring continuous enhancement of capabilities and user adoption.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and data excellence across the organization.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Supply Chain, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Extensive experience in Master Data Management (MDM), Data Management, or Data Governance within a complex, global organization.
- Strong understanding of Operational Data Management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience with MDM platforms, data management tools, and enterprise ERP environments.
- Strong knowledge of data quality, data governance, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience leading data quality improvement, data migration, and master data transformation initiatives.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate high-performing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and external service providers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to drive organisational change and foster a data-driven culture.
