We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented
Material Planner to support Lumentum's global high-precision manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for material planning, work order management, and ensuring on-time fulfillment of customer and production requirements. The Material Planner plays a key role in coordinating build plans, optimizing inventory, and facilitating smooth material flow across operations, supply chain, logistics, and customer support teams.
Responsibilities
- Publish and maintain weekly build plans to support On-Time Delivery to Promise (OTD/OSD) and Customer Request Date (CRD) commitments.
- Release and manage work orders based on product yield, material availability, production priorities, and installed machine capacity.
- Review MRP signals, validate demand, and ensure materials are available to support scheduled builds.
- Coordinate with Master Control (MC), Buyers, Manufacturing, Process Engineering (PE), Quality Engineering (QE), Incoming Quality Assurance (IQA), Industrial Engineering (IE), Warehouse, and IT to resolve operational or material-related issues.
- Schedule sales orders in Oracle and communicate with Customer Service (CSR), Sales, and relevant teams to resolve issues impacting customer demand or delivery schedules.
- Work closely with Warehouse and Logistics teams to request shipment processing for due-to-ship SO/MSO orders.
- Monitor inventory levels, material risks, shortages, and excess/obsolete exposure, and coordinate mitigation actions.
- Support cross-functional escalation, material recovery, and expedites to ensure build plans proceed without interruption.
- Maintain accurate planning parameters (lead time, lot size, safety stock) and ensure data integrity in MRP/ERP systems.
- Support company-wide initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, cost reduction, and continuous improvement activities.
- Prepare planning-related reports, material status updates, and build readiness summaries for internal stakeholders.
- Perform additional responsibilities or tasks assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Material Planner or Production Planner in high-tech or manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and core planning principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and manage priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, planning, and reporting.
- Good communication skills in English (written and spoken).
- Familiarity with inventory control, demand planning, and material flow processes is an advantage.
- Knowledge of BOI requirements, import/export processes, or logistics operations is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
