The
Merchandise Strategist team drives Makro's overall merchandise strategy and leads the development of new brands and categories. This role partners closely with the Merchandise Strategist lead to analyze data, generate actionable insights, and provide clear development direction to each division/category team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute annual category and product growth strategies for Makro. Drive hero product launches and key category expansion, accountable for company growth in focus segments.
- Establish a robust supply-side analysis framework based on market insights and business goals. Design category prioritisation, product selection criteria and performance evaluation methods to implement growth roadmaps.
- Collaborate with category teams and strategy teams to design tailored growth targets and key milestones for across divisions and categories (new brands, categories, white spaces). Facilitate goal achievement through. objective tracking, selection committees and post-campaign reviews.
Requirements
- Background in online/e-commerce, preferably within FMCG or food-related industries
- Experience with platforms such as TikTok Shop, Shopee, and/or Lazada is an advantage
- Exposure to merchandising trends and category-level performance analysis
- Outstanding communication, project management and execution skills. Able to work under pressure, highly self-driven and adaptable to a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide category overviews and insights
- Good command of English communication skills
