About the role

Reporting To Senior Microbiologist
Working Hours 8.30am 5.30pm
Key responsibilities
- Perform microbiological testing, read, calculate, and interpret test results, as well as sign microbiological test reports
- Maintain and oversee laboratory instruments and equipment; conduct daily temperature checks as assigned.
- Perform sample receiving, preparation, storage, and disposal of finished products and raw materials, and swab samples.
- Coordinate and communicate with customers regarding sample submissions for internal and external laboratory testing.
- Prepare culture media, chemicals, and sterilize equipment used in microbiological testing; ensure readiness for use at all times. Verify the quality of prepared media, chemicals, and equipment before use, and record results.
- Monitor the usage and record the requisition and distribution of culture media, chemicals, and various laboratory supplies used in the microbiology laboratory.
- Participate in internal quality audits and the management review of the laboratory quality management system in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.
- Participate in inter-laboratory comparison activities or proficiency testing with accredited external organizations.
- Record quality data and participate in the preparation of quality system documents, test method, and work instructions related to ISO/IEC 17025.
- Support EMP program and adverts event swab routine program, record, handling sample for external lab.
- Be involved in auditing the company's various systems.
- Perform other job assignments as necessary.
Qualifications and skills
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and or Biotechnology, Food Science, Agro-Industrial Technology, or Chemistry
- At least 53 years relevant experience in work experience in a microbiology laboratory with a background in the food industry or other related fields.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and various microbiological testing methods.
- Knowledge or experience in quality management systems (GMP / HACCP / ISO 17025 / BRC).
- Good communication skills in English (oral and written).
