GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This role leads Operations service delivery for SCB Julius Baer (SCBJB) Front Office across securities brokerage and private fund trading, ensuring robust day-to-day execution, control governance, and continuous improvement. The role supports senior management decision-making through management reporting and works closely with Risk and Compliance to embed regulatory and control perspectives. The incumbent is also expected to develop team capability and leadership depth as a key COO successor candidate for Operations matters.
KEY FEATURES OF THE POSITION
- Supervise operation for securities brokerage and private fund trading business including settlement, documentation, data maintenance, client communication and coordinate with relevant parties.
- Oversee and ensure the periodic settlement operation & report are done and submitted to relevant parties in an accurate and timely manner.
- Take the lead to ensure all operations related processes & technology platform are executed accurately & efficiently, following an agreed workflow and ensure activities are in compliance with relevant regulatory laws and internal policies.
- Initiate and oversee the operations initiative projects/act as project lead for selected key projects; to improve/scale up the efficient platform & services according to company business model.
- Responsible for governance of controls across all Operations functions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and work closely with SCBJB IT to identify/plan IT related requirements and initiate necessary projects to drive an execution.
- Prepare and consolidate Operations management reporting and governance materials for senior management forums (including MCOM and ExCom), ensuring timely, accurate, and decision-ready updates on operations performance, risks/issues, controls, and key initiatives.
- Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to incorporate regulatory expectations and control requirements into operational procedures, issue management, new initiatives, and periodic reporting (e.g., SEC, BOT), including proactive identification, escalation, and remediation tracking of operational risks.
- Build a strong operations leadership bench by coaching and developing the team, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, and acting as a key COO successor candidate for Operations—able to lead day-to-day execution, governance readiness, and stakeholder management in the COO's absence when required.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or another related field.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant industry knowledge and experience.
- Has a comprehensive understanding of the industry (organizational behavior in particular), as well as the ability to analyze, plan, organize and supervise projects independently in different areas.
- Significant management experience in terms of project management, and (re)design of inter-departmental processes and workflows.
- Strong governance, management reporting, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to prepare executive-ready materials and present key messages in senior management forums (e.g., MCOM, ExCom).
- Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks applicable to securities brokerage and private fund operations, and proven ability to collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams to embed regulatory expectations into processes, controls, and reporting.
- Excellent understanding of Securities broker / Private banking value chain, end-to-end processes, and operations workflows.
- In-depth and hands-on experience of Securities broker or Private banking operations.
