Operations Director Data Center (Thailand)
Location: Chon Buri, Thailand
Role Overview
The Operations Director is responsible for the overall operational performance, availability, safety, and scalability of a large-scale data center campus in Thailand. This role provides end-to-end leadership across critical facilities operations, service delivery, compliance, vendor management, and team development, ensuring world-class uptime and operational excellence.
The position acts as the senior operational authority on site, working closely with regional leadership, customers, and internal stakeholders to support current operations and future expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Own 24/7 mission-critical operations across the data center campus, ensuring continuous availability and reliability
- Set and drive operational strategy, KPIs, SLAs, and performance standards aligned with global best practices
- Lead operational readiness for new builds, expansions, and handovers into live operations
Critical Facilities & Engineering
- Oversee all critical systems including electrical (HV/LV, UPS, generators), mechanical (chillers, CRAC/CRAH), BMS, and life-safety systems
- Ensure robust preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs are in place
- Drive root-cause analysis for incidents and lead post-incident reviews
Service Delivery & Customer Interface
- Act as the senior point of contact for key customers and enterprise clients on operational matters
- Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds contractual SLAs and uptime commitments
- Support customer onboarding, audits, and operational reviews
Compliance, Risk & Safety
- Ensure compliance with Uptime Institute, ISO (9001/14001/27001), local regulations, and HSE standards
- Own site-level risk management, business continuity, and emergency response planning
- Foster a strong safety-first and compliance-driven culture
People & Organization
- Build, lead, and mentor site leadership teams (Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Security, EHS)
- Drive succession planning, capability development, and performance management
- Create a high-accountability, high-performance operational culture
Vendor & Financial Management
- Manage and optimize vendor contracts, FM providers, OEMs, and service partners
- Own operational budgets, cost control, and efficiency initiatives
- Support procurement strategy for spare parts, services, and long-term maintenance contracts
Key Requirements
Experience
- 1215+ years in mission-critical operations (data centers, critical infrastructure, power plants, oil & gas, semiconductor fabs, or similar)
- Proven experience managing large-scale, mission-critical operations with total IT load or campus power capacity of 50MW+
- Senior leadership experience managing large, multi-disciplinary operations teams
- Proven experience operating Tier III / Tier IV or hyperscale environments or similar relevance.
- Strong exposure to customer-facing operational roles
Technical & Professional Skills
- Deep understanding of critical MEP systems and data center operations
- Strong knowledge of SLA management, incident response, and operational governance
- Experience working with global standards, audits, and regulatory frameworks
- Commercial acumen with budget ownership and vendor negotiations
