Role Description

The Operation Manager is responsible for leading and managing the overall manufacturing operation across all production processes within AMS Thailand's metal fabrication and OEM contract manufacturing environment.

This role oversees end-to-end production activities including laser cutting, CNC machining, folding, welding, grinding, painting, coating, assembly, packing, and production support functions to ensure operational excellence, quality, safety, delivery performance, and cost efficiency.

The Operation Manager drives production strategy, operational planning, manufacturing efficiency, resource optimisation, and cross-functional coordination to support business growth and customer satisfaction within a high-mix OEM manufacturing environment.

This position directly reports to the Operations Director and maintains a dotted-line reporting relationship with the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in manufacturing operations management within metal fabrication, OEM manufacturing, or industrial manufacturing environments
  • Experience managing end-to-end production processes including laser cutting, machining, fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, and logistics coordination
  • Strong leadership, people management, and operational decision-making capability
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence methodologies
  • Strong understanding of production planning, workflow management, capacity planning, and manufacturing KPIs
  • Experience managing production performance, labour efficiency, machine utilisation, and operational cost control
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills
  • Knowledge of safety standards, ISO systems, and manufacturing compliance requirements
  • Experience with ERP/MRP manufacturing systems is highly desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is an advantage

Key Responsibility

A. Operational Leadership

  • Lead and manage the overall production operation across all manufacturing departments
  • Ensure daily production activities are executed safely, efficiently, and according to customer requirements
  • Drive operational performance aligned with company objectives and customer expectations
  • Establish operational priorities and ensure effective execution across all production areas

B. Production Management

  • Oversee end-to-end manufacturing processes including laser cutting, CNC machining, folding, welding, grinding, painting, coating, assembly, packing, and logistics coordination
  • Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining quality and cost targets
  • Monitor production capacity, manpower utilisation, machine performance, and workflow efficiency

C. OEM Manufacturing Operations

  • Manage high-mix OEM manufacturing operations supporting international customers
  • Ensure flexibility and responsiveness to varying customer demands and engineering changes
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Customer Service teams to ensure successful project execution

D. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives across all operational areas
  • Identify and eliminate waste, bottlenecks, downtime, and non-value-added activities
  • Improve productivity, efficiency, throughput, and operational flow
  • Implement continuous improvement activities using structured problem-solving methodologies

E. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all operations comply with company safety standards and legal requirements
  • Promote strong safety culture and ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal procedures
  • Lead corrective and preventive actions related to operational and safety issues

F. Quality & Operational Excellence

  • Work closely with Quality teams to ensure products meet customer and engineering specifications
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities
  • Ensure operational processes are standardised, controlled, and continuously improved
  • Support customer audits and operational improvement programs

G. Planning & Resource Management

  • Lead production planning and resource allocation to achieve operational targets
  • Monitor production KPI performance including OEE, productivity, DIFOT, scrap, rework, labour efficiency, and downtime
  • Ensure effective manpower planning, machine utilisation, and operational cost control

H. People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, engineers, and production teams
  • Build strong operational leadership capability across departments
  • Drive accountability, ownership, teamwork, and performance culture
  • Support succession planning and employee development initiatives

I. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Quality, HR, and Warehouse teams to support operational performance
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), process transfers, and operational expansion activities
  • Participate in management meetings and strategic operational planning
