JOB DESCRIPTION
- Lead NPI engineering activities and cross-functional project teams to ensure successful new product introduction into manufacturing.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans aligned with overall project objectives and timelines.
- Lead product transfer and derivative design activities from development into manufacturing.
- Define tooling and process requirements and coordinate with contract manufacturers (CM) for new product and process setup.
- Manage and support local cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and ensure on-time product delivery.
- Drive project teams through gate reviews and ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer and transition of products from NPI to mass production.
- Provide technical support for RMA and product-related issues during and after NPI.
- Work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure production output meets quality, delivery, capacity and cost requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to CM engineering teams in resolving production and manufacturing issues.
- Drive product yield, process improvement and manufacturing capability improvement.
- Review and provide technical feedback on manufacturing-related documentation.
- Provide optical engineering expertise and technical support to Product Development, Manufacturing and Process Engineering teams.
- Work with design teams to understand optical product and test requirements and translate them into manufacturing requirements.
- Collaborate with Test Engineering teams on optical test requirements and test recipe development.
- Provide technical training and troubleshooting support to CM teams for optical products, rework and manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical recommendations and justification for product and process requirements during the transition from design to manufacturing.
- Work closely with internal teams, contract manufacturers and customers to resolve technical and product-related issues.
- Lead, coach and mentor engineering teams and promote continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Optics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in optical engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related industry.
- Strong experience in optical products, photonics, fiber optics or optical communications is preferred.
- Experience in NPI, product transfer, manufacturing support and mass production.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers (CM) is highly preferred.
- Experience with EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier) / Optical Amplifier products is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of optical engineering principles, optical testing and manufacturing requirements.
- Experience in troubleshooting optical and manufacturing issues and driving root-cause analysis.
- Strong project management and NPI leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration and stakeholder-management skills.
- Good decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor and influence engineering teams.
- Strong customer focus with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to work closely with manufacturing partners and support production-related technical issues.
