Job description
General DBA Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database environments across Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MS SQL.
- Design and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor database health, performance, and resource utilization using tools like OEM, pgAdmin, MSSQL Profiler, and MongoDB Atlas.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues, including performance tuning and query optimization.
- Implement security best practices, access controls, encryption, and compliance standards.
- Automate database administration tasks using scripting (SQL, PowerShell, Shell, Python).
- Work closely with developers to optimize queries, indexes, and schema designs.
- Manage database replication, clustering, and failover solutions for high availability.
Oracle Database Administration:
- Manage Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Optimize performance using AWR, ADDM, and SQL Tuning Advisor.
- Implement Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication.
- Perform RMAN backup, cloning, and disaster recovery planning.
- Apply patches and perform database upgrades while ensuring minimal downtime.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Relevant certifications (preferred): Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Database Administration
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- PostgreSQL Professional Certification MongoDB Certified DBA Associate
- 5+ years of experience as a DBA managing Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MS SQL databases.
- Proven experience in high availability, clustering, replication, and disaster recovery planning.
- Hands-on experience with database migration and cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud PostgreSQL).
