Job Description

Main purpose of the role:

Category procurement manager provides expertise in processes and systems; lead the development and implementation of enterprise-wide procurement processes and systems

Strategic direction

  • Define & Implementing Packaging category strategies to optimize business efficiency, including category management, strategic sourcing and contracting, supplier management and recommend targets, with clear alignment to overall Group Non-fish & Indirect Procurement strategy
  • Track procurement performance for Packaging and other associated materials in AMEA against critical KPIs, generate key insights and propose changes to Group Non-fish & Indirect Procurement strategy and / or potential improvement initiatives as appropriate

Standards and programs

  • Drive implementation of Thai Union SOPs for procurement processes (category management, strategic sourcing and contracting, supplier management etc.), policies and systems for Secondary packaging and other associated materials in AMEA; recommend adaptation of standards as neccessary to ensure operational feasibility

End-to-end category management, strategic sourcing and supplier management

  • Performing category management including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract, performance, and risk management
  • Manage centralized suppliers relationships, ensure the suppliers comply with and is measured against service level expectations, deliver customer satisfaction, pass TU's standard audits, meet regulatory requirements, and other related duties to ensure successful relationships with the company
  • Consolidate category demand for Packaging and other associated materials across AMEA to drive economies of scale, and maximize market competition to deliver value to Thai Union
  • Monitor supplier pipeline for Packaging and other associated materials in AMEA; search and identify potential suppliers based on business needs and issue RFI, RFP, RFQ as appropriate
  • Develop sourcing plan for Packaging and other associated materials in AMEA, including sourcing timeline and order allocation
  • Gather market intelligence on supply trends for Packaging and other associated materials across AMEA, monitor regulartory changes and adapt sourcing plan as appropriate
  • Work with BU Supplier Quality teams across business units in AMEA to incorporate overall Thai Union procurement standards specification requirements (KPIs / SLA) for Packaging and other associated materials into supplier audit requirements
  • Perform regular evaluation of supplier performance for Primary & Secondary packaging and other associated materials in AMEA, and implement necessary corrective actions to drive performance improvement across suppliers
  • Maintain relevant supplier master data for Primary & Secondary packaging and other associated materials across AMEA (performance, policies & standard adherence, key contract milestones etc.)

Quality Assurance & Risk Management:

  • Implement Annual supplier assessment and Audit including quality control measures to ensure packaging meets required standards for durability, safety, and appearance
  • Evaluate and mitigate risks, such as supply chain disruptions, material shortages, or quality inconsistencies

Contract management and governance

  • Translate end-user requirements for Primary & Secondary packaging and other associated materials in AMEA to contractual KPIs / SLAs
  • Negotiate and customize contracts based on Group-level master contract templates, and consult with Group Contract Management and Legal teams in the case of required deviations
  • Monitor suppliers contractual milestones (contract expiration, etc.) for Primary & Secondary packaging and other associated materials across AMEA, and work with relevant teams to take appropriate action as needed (renewal, termination etc.)

Responsible Sourcing

  • Drive implementation of Group Responsible Sourcing policies and standards for procurement of Packaging and other associated materials across AMEA
  • Track responsible sourcing KPIs for procurement of Secondary packaging and other associated materials across AMEA; regularly report out on performance to Responsible Sourcing Committee and take corrective actions as required

Artwork management

  • Oversee checking of secondary packaging artwork for compliance against contract clauses, labelling regulations, food law requirements and quality standards etc.; ensure that artwork teams coordinate effectively with BU / plant quality teams as needed

Qualifications

  • More than 5 years of experience working with category management in manager level, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
  • Understands basic manufacturing cost models & processes.
  • Possesses the ability to analyze and present data to multiple levels of the organization.
  • Well-developed project management skills

  • Ability to travel 10 - 20% of the time within the region
