Engineering Manager

Position Objective

  • Lead the Process Engineering section to plan, develop and deliver process solutions that meet safety, quality, delivery and cost targets across manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure the section provides robust support for new line launches, continuous improvement and serial production through cross-functional collaboration within the plant, region and global organisation.
  • Develop and maintain process engineering standards, tooling and documentation to sustain high reliability and minimise downtime.

Tasks / Responsibilities: (Main Activities)

  • Manage a team of process engineers and technicians: allocate work, coach for performance, and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
  • Drive process development activities including line layout, takt time analysis, cycle time reduction, process capability and control plans.
  • Lead new product introduction activities for process readiness, trial builds and ramp to serial production; ensure handover to operations with appropriate training and documentation.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to improve productivity, quality and cost performance.
  • Coordinate machine and tooling specifications with purchasing and suppliers; support installation, commissioning and validation of equipment.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Industrial Engineering and Production to reduce downtime, improve first-time-through and resolve production issues.
  • Maintain and update process FMEAs, PFMEAs, process flow charts, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and report section KPIs (yield, scrap, takt compliance, downtime, OEE) and drive corrective actions to meet plant targets.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements in process design and execution.
  • Support budgeting and resource planning for the Process Engineering section.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders and management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment; prior experience in automotive or safety-critical manufacturing is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with process capability analysis, SPC, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Familiarity with machine/tooling specifications, commissioning and validation processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across functions and regions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering tools; experience with CAD, PLC or process simulation tools is desirable.
  • English fluency; local language skills where the role is based are beneficial.

Specific Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience leading teams through new line launches and sustaining serial production.
  • Track record of delivering measurable process improvements (productivity, quality, cost reduction).
  • Ability to travel between sites as required for launches and supplier support.

Working Conditions

  • Base location at the plant with regular presence on the production floor.
  • Occasional extended hours during launches or critical production recovery activities.
