Job Title: Procurement Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Role will be covered by a suitable person as nominated by Management.

Purpose of Job

To manage procurement on behalf of the General Manager daily with tasks as instructed

Principle Duties

  • Essential must have ship refitting/vessel building background.
  • Collaborating with crossfunctional teams to define project scope objectives and specifications.Specify equipment in accordance with contractual and engineering requirements.
  • Work to obtain catalogues, suppliers productspecifications, isometrics, drawings of proposed equipment to issue to contracted detailed designers.
  • Utilise information provide by designers to allow equipment to be added to the Bill of Materials.
  • Provide detailsof equipment & design to allow Vessel specification to be updated.
  • Coordinate with production, subcontractors & detailed designers for procurement of consumables, materials, hired equipment & vessel equipment.
  • Gathering information, drawings & manuals for class deliverable approvals.
  • Provide details of technical information for final documentation pack to vessel prior to trials & flag state inspection.
  • Review Presentation slides identify each company - online to find contact details email, telephone, address & website, checking description& pictures from the presentation slide that supplier has these types of items.
  • Add potential suppliers to Approved Supplier Vendors List with brochures, costs per unit & certs added into the drop box subfolder.
  • Confirm that Class Approved Certification will be provided by Supplier as necessary. If applicable, save to the sub folder for items in Dropbox.
  • SendPMG Supplier Approval Questionnaire-REV01 to supplierto be completed. Saving form & supporting information to the sub folder for item in drop box.
  • Obtain 3 x minimum quotes for management review of product selection, costs, lead times.
  • Place order through the purchasing process currently in PMG procedures.
  • Control of delivery & consignment notes.
  • Working closely with stores for organised control of items & equipment.

Types of Hired Equipment to procure:

  • SPMTs, Generators, trucks, loaders, cranes, telehandlers, forklifts, MEWPS, cherry pickers, scissor lifts, tower lighting, transformers, scaffolding, Tugs, support vessels.

Types of consumables, PPE, & materials to procure:

  • Welding, Gas, Grinding / Cutting, Oxy-Acetylene Cutting Equipment, Masks, Gloves, Shields, Overalls, Glasses, Safety Helmets, PPE Rescue Equipment, Pipe Fittings, Diesel Services, Gas Monitoring, NDT, Abrasives, Acids, Adhesives and Sealants, Detergent / Disinfectant, Glass, Jointing / Gaskets, Loctite, Oil / Chemical, Fasteners, Marine Timber, Spill kit, Fire Blankets, Health & Safety Signage, Fire Extinguishers, Grease, Paste, Hardener & Resins (Glass Reinforced Plastic), Lubricants, Metals, Insulation, Belzona, Cabling, Degreaser, Anti Spatter, brushes rollers,

Types of equipment to procure:

  • Structural drawings from kit supplied parts to fabrication installation plans, jigs, keel laying, frame / bulkhead positioning, shell & deck plating installation, superstructure installation, rudder fabrication, rope guards, thruster tunnel, foundations & seatings for equipment, hot work first fixings, mast fabrication & installation.
  • Pipingsystems includingflows ,pumps, valves for Black, Grey, Fuel, Ballast & Potable water, scuppers, sea chests, outlets/inlets vents, breathers, over boards, filling & discharges, swimming pool filtration system.
  • Mechanical systems Propulsion equipment, Engines, Gearboxes, Shafts, Propellers, Rudders, Generators, Bow Thrusters, Windlass & Capstans.
  • Electrical Installation And Lighting - Main/emergency switchboard, Local distribution panels, Cables and wiring, motors, distribution and switchboards, shore connection, Interior lighting, Technical lighting, Deck lighting, Miscellaneous lighting, Breakers, Batteries & Chargers.
  • Navigational systemsCommunication systems, Ship horn, Ship's bell, CCTV-system, Passenger information system, Audio & video equipment. Distress flares pyrotechnics, Flags & shapes, VHF and MF/HF radios, Inmarsat satellite system EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon
  • HVAC systems, Boilers, Exhausts, Compressors, Fixed Firefighting & detection systems, Lifesaving equipment positioning, Entertainmentsystem.
  • Miscellaneous, ladders, gangways, Insulation, Watertight integrity, fairleads, bollards, handrails, cleats, fendering system.
  • Joinery / Outfitting Cabin / bar, wheelhouse, decks & Compartment layouts flooring, equipment, seatings, stowage arrangements, internal & external furniture.
  • Galley layout all equipment & services including refrigeration dumbwaiter & storage arrangements.

Qualifications for the position of Procurement Buyer

  • Five years experience with a knowledge of buying procurement. Qualifications CIPS Level 1,2.
  • Be conversant with all legislation pertaining to the scope of the companies work activities.
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Computer literate, especially Procurement software.

Safety Responsibilities

You are responsible for ensuring that you and all employees under your control work safely and comply with all current and relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.

You are responsible for ensuring that employees implement safe systems of work according to PMG procedures.

You are responsible for ensuring your own safety and that of the employees under your control and of visitors and the general public when on PMG property.

You must adhere to all criteria contained within the PMG IMS, the PMG Staff Handbook, the Safety, Health and Environment Handbook and the Drivers Handbook.

You must adhere to all criteria relating to the Company Substance Misuse policy.

You must ensure that accidents, incidents and near misses to you or staff under your control are reported and recorded and that the accident book is completed promptly.
