Job Description

About the Role

We're building the payroll application Thai SMEs will actually love using — not just tolerate. To do that, we need a Product Owner who has sat in the seat of the customer: someone who has run payroll, managed compliance headaches, fielded employee complaints about payslips, and dealt with the Revenue Department, Social Security Office, and provident funds firsthand.

This is why we're specifically looking for someone with a background as an HR Manager or HR Director. You don't just understand payroll conceptually — you've lived the monthly close, the year-end tax reconciliation, the new-hire onboarding scramble, and the awkward conversation when a salary calculation goes wrong. That operational scar tissue is exactly what will help us build software SME owners and HR teams trust.

You'll partner closely with engineering, design, and customer success to translate real HR/payroll pain points into product requirements — and you'll be the internal voice that keeps the team honest about what actually matters to the people using this software every day.

What You'll Do

  • Own the product backlog for our payroll module — write clear, prioritized user stories grounded in real HR/payroll operational workflows.
  • Translate operational pain into requirements. Use your first-hand experience running payroll to identify what SME HR teams actually need — not just what's technically easy to build.
  • Partner with engineering & design in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and story refinement to ship features that reduce real HR workload.
  • Validate compliance logic — tax calculations, social security contributions, provident fund handling, leave accrual, severance — against actual Thai labor law and RD/SSO requirements.
  • Run customer discovery with Thai SME owners and HR staff — interviews, usability testing, and feedback loops to keep the roadmap grounded in reality.
  • Define and track success metrics (adoption, payroll-run accuracy, time-to-complete-payroll-cycle, support ticket volume) to prove the product is solving real problems.
  • Be the internal customer advocate — challenge feature requests and technical shortcuts that would create friction for real HR users.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success & Sales to understand churn reasons, feature requests, and competitive gaps.
  • Stay current on changes to Thai labor law, tax regulations, and SSO/PVD requirements that affect the product roadmap.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience as an HR Manager, HR Director, or senior HR Generalist/Operations lead at a Thai company (SME experience strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on experience running or overseeing payroll — not just approving it.
  • Deep working knowledge of Thai Labor Law, Social Security contributions, PND1/PND1A/PND3, Provident Fund, and severance calculations.
  • Strong communication skills — able to translate operational needs into clear written requirements for engineers and designers.
  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and structured documentation (PRDs, user stories, process maps).
  • Fluent in Thai; working proficiency in English (for cross-functional collaboration with tech teams).

Nice to Have:

  • Prior exposure to HRIS, payroll software, or ERP systems (as a power user, admin, or implementation lead) — you don't need to have built software, but you've used it and had opinions about it.
  • Experience training or supporting other HR staff/employees on payroll systems.
  • Basic familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working (we'll teach you the rest).
  • A track record of process improvement or systems migration within an HR function.

You do NOT need:

  • Prior job title of Product Owner or Product Manager.
  • A technical/engineering background — we'll pair you with experienced engineers and a product coach to ramp you up on product craft.

What Success Looks Like in 6 Months

  • You've shipped 2–3 features directly informed by your own payroll operations experience that measurably reduce customer support tickets or manual workarounds.
  • SME customers and internal CS team recognize you as someone who gets it.
  • You've run structured discovery interviews with 15+ Thai SME HR/finance staff and turned findings into a prioritized backlog.
  • Engineering trusts your requirements because they're clear, compliance-accurate, and grounded in real use cases.

Why Join Us

  • Be a founding voice on a product built specifically to solve Thai SME payroll pain — not a localized copy of a foreign tool.
  • Direct influence on the roadmap; your operational background is your competitive edge here, not a gap to overcome.
  • Work alongside engineers, designers, and fellow ex-operators who respect domain expertise as much as technical skill.
  • Structured onboarding into product management practices — mentorship from experienced PMs/POs included.

What We Offer

  • Build products used by tens of thousands of businesses.
  • Ship code that reaches customers quickly.
  • High ownership with minimal bureaucracy.
  • Learn from experienced engineers and product leaders.
  • Flexible work hours and 45 days/year work from anywhere.
  • Competitive compensation, health & accident insurance from day one.
  • 17–19 public holidays, 12 personal leave days, and 8 annual leave days.
  • A friendly, collaborative team that genuinely enjoys building together.
  • Clear opportunities to grow your career as the company scales.

Location

  • Skulthai Surawong Tower, Bangrak, Bangkok (MRT Samyan or BTS Saladaeng)
