ROLE SUMMARY
The Technical Director will play a crucial role in the Company's entry into Thailand through greenfield data center development. The position reports functionally into the Head of Design and Construction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead BDx Data Centers Thailand market-entry through first greenfield data center development
- Evaluate land, power, water, connectivity feasibility for greenfield data center construction; critically assess deliverables of consultants in this regard
- Work with the Central Design and Construction team for design, construction and implementation of data centers which meet the prescribed design, quality and timeline parameters
- Spearhead liaising efforts with regulatory agencies (electricity authority, water authority, IEAT, BOI, etc.) and consultants for obtaining necessary permissions and licenses in time
- Manage key stakeholders (landowner, industrial estate owner/operator, customer, telco companies, contractors, consultants, OEM vendors, etc.) during project lifecycle
- Ensure that project stakeholders deliver as per contractual commitments, and project's time and cost objectives are met
- Provide leadership at local level and guide decision-making in the interest of project
- Work with the BDx standardised design and project management guidelines
- Engage with the central team to suggest suitable modifications to accommodate for Thailand specific requirements
- Forecast project cost, timeline, resource requirement
- Lead the Thailand team for successful end to end Project delivery on cost, quality and time parameters for successful execution of greenfield projects
- Provide technical analysis, advice and input in data center testing and commissioning
- Work closely with other BDx departments to ensure the collaborative development of the organization
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related disciplines and professional certifications will be an added advantage
- At least 20 years relevant experience with 10 years in data center industry in Thailand
- Familiar with up-to-date data center industry practice
- With strong network relationship within data center ecosystem with regulatory authorities, business partners, vendors, suppliers and clients
- Excellent communication skills in English, Thai and Mandarin (Chinese). Fluency and working knowledge in Mandarin (Chinese) is a must.
