Manatal is an HRTech software service (B2B SaaS) company headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand. Manatal is one of the fastest-growing start-ups in the region and is backed by Surge and Sequoia Capital. Manatal has a global presence and is trusted by thousands of businesses in over 130 countries.
Our goal is to transform the entire hiring process by making it simple, efficient and enjoyable for recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates alike.
Our mission is to offer the best-in-class AI-powered technologies to empower small, medium and large businesses in their staffing & recruitment transformation.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the CTO, this role drives operational excellence across the Tech department and the cross-functional workflows connected to it. The CTO sets direction and picks the targets. This role investigates, finds the real gap, validates the fix, implements it, enforces it, and produces the data proving it worked.
This is not a delivery project management role. Reporting and cadence already exist here. The scope spans Engineering and Product as well as Marketing, Sales, Support, and Finance. There are no direct reports, so change is driven through evidence and process design rather than authority, working with the Product Managers and Lead Engineers who run delivery and with department heads across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and SOP management: Systematize processes across the department by writing the missing SOPs, rewriting outdated ones, making ownership explicit, enforcing them end to end, catching drift early, and maintaining the internal wiki as the single reference people trust.
- Continuous improvement: Run deep dives on the priorities set by the CTO, conducting root cause analysis to separate real constraints from surface symptoms, validating the fix before proposing it, and eliminating rework, duplicated work, unnecessary handoffs, and manual steps.
- Workflow and tooling: Own and configure Jira and Jira Service Desk company-wide, building the workflows and automations that keep work moving and make delays visible.
- Cross-functional process optimization: Audit and redesign the request workflows running through Jira Service Desk across Sales, Support, Marketing, Finance, Product, and Engineering, reducing steps, clarifying routing, accelerating approvals, removing dead ends, and aligning each team on the result.
- Performance measurement: Build and maintain operational reporting for the Tech department, writing SQL directly against the data warehouse rather than routing requests through a data team.
- Operating cadence: Own the weekly, monthly, and quarterly planning meetings with the Tech leadership, preparing each session so time goes to decisions and blockers rather than status, keeping delivery aligned to the agreed quarterly priorities, and flagging deviations early.
Requirements
Background:
- Outstanding academic record from a highly selective university, with evidence of having earned a place at a demanding institution and performed well there.
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical or quantitative field.
- Management consulting experience or an equivalent structured problem-solving background, combined with time spent operating in house.
Must-Haves:
- Minimum 4 years in a Process, Operations, or Engineering Effectiveness role inside a product or technology company, rather than agency or client services only.
- Proven ability to write, implement, maintain, and enforce SOPs that teams actually follow, and to keep documentation accurate as processes evolve.
- Track record of auditing and re-engineering complex workflows across several departments, with demonstrated adoption achieved without direct management authority.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis properly, technical enough to distinguish a real constraint from an excuse, and comfortable telling a senior leader that they or their approval process are the constraint, with a designed alternative in hand.
- Hands-on SQL proficiency, writing queries directly against a data warehouse to build operational reports independently.
- Expert-level proficiency configuring Jira workflows and automations (Jira Service Management is a strong plus).
- Readiness to work on-site in Bangkok.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with automation and low-code tools (e.g., n8n, Zapier).
- Lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma applied in software environments rather than manufacturing only.
- Engineering effectiveness, developer productivity, or platform enablement experience.
