Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading all procurement and supply management (PSM) activities in Thailand. The role will work closely with local and regional stakeholders to drive sourcing excellence, cost optimization, supplier performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
This full-time position is based in Huai Khwang, Bangkok, offering the opportunity to contribute to the strategic growth and operational excellence of one of the leading elevator and escalator companies in the region.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and manage contract terms with suppliers/subcontractors to ensure best value, quality standards and delivery timelines, with input from technical and operational stakeholders
- Analyse historical data to identify cost drivers and benchmark savings
- Support sales in tender preparation and compare vendor quotations to optimize our costs, especially in installation and hoisting
- Resolve issues related to price, quality, quantity discrepancies, claims, and delivery with suppliers/subcontractors
- Coach and mentor the procurement team in executing tenders, RFQs and e-auctions, alongside order and logistics management
- Oversee logistics for inbound and outbound shipments via air, sea, and land transport
- Collaborate with the service team to manage inventory and reduce slow-moving and obsolete stock
- Monitor and follow-up on open purchase orders, incoming shipments, and complete sets of shipping documents
- Conduct annual vendor and subcontractor performance evaluations
- Improve procurement efficiency through the use of the JAGGAER tool for supplier management, e-auctions and RFQs
- Encourage local service and operations teams to explore alternative sourcing to drive cost reductions and meet targets
- Build strong collaborative relationships across functions including Finance, Service, Legal, Admin, IT and HR
- Implement risk mitigation, cost control, and procurement strategies in alignment with corporate direction
- Ensure internal stakeholders understand and comply with the procurement policies and processes
- Manage subcontractor engagement in line with compliance, safety, and operational standards
- Provide weekly activity updates and monthly procurement performance reports
- Participate in ad-hoc projects supporting company - wide operations and strategy
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 8-10 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management experience, preferably in manufacturing, engineering, construction, transportation, or logistics industries
- Proven experience in supplier negotiation, contract management, and strategic sourcing
- Hands-on experience with SAP (MM module preferred) and other procurement or ERP systems
- Experience with e-Sourcing, e-RFQ, e-Auction, or supplier management platforms is an advantage
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cost management skills
- Good understanding of inventory management, forecasting, and logistics operations
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
- Good command of written and spoken English
