Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Develop and implement the R&D strategy aligned with corporate objectives and global industry trends.
  • Translate market insights, customer needs, and emerging technologies into actionable development plans.
  • Build a sustainable innovation pipeline to support long-term business competitiveness.

Product Development Excellence

  • Oversee the full product development lifecycle from concept, design, validation, and industrialization.
  • Drive engineering best practices using CAD/CAM and advanced development methodologies.
  • Ensure products meet performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability targets.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Strengthen organizational capabilities in engineering design, materials technology, and process development.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams.

Operational & Project Governance

  • Manage R&D portfolios, budgets, and timelines to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Provide clear reporting on development progress, risks, and key milestones to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and safety requirements.

External Collaboration

  • Engage with customers, suppliers, and research partners to co-develop advanced technologies.
  • Monitor competitor activity and technology trends to maintain industry leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, or related field); advanced degree preferred.
  • Significant experience in automotive and/or electronic component manufacturing environments.
  • Proven track record in leading R&D or engineering teams and delivering products from concept to commercialization.
  • Strong technical expertise in product development, materials, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Hands-on knowledge of CAD/CAM and structured development processes.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with international customers or multi-site operations is highly advantageous.
  • Fluent in Japanese (spoken and written) is preferred.
