We are seeking an experienced, dynamic
Regional Communications Advisor to lead CARE USA communications across the Asia Region driving global media coverage, strengthening regional visibility, and ensuring compelling, high-quality content flows seamlessly from Country Offices to global audiences.
This is more than a communications role. It is a strategic leadership position at the heart of crisis response, brand building, fundraising, and accountability.
The Opportunity
As Regional Communications Advisor, You Will Serve As
- Strategic Media Lead for CARE USA in Asia
- Crisis Communications Coordinator during humanitarian emergencies
- Regional Storyteller-in-Chief gathering, producing, and shaping powerful multimedia content
- Trusted Advisor & Capacity Builder for Country Office communications teams
You will work closely with global communications colleagues, Regional Management Teams, and Country Offices to elevate CARE's share of voice, strengthen media engagement, and ensure rapid, coordinated communications during emergencies.
What You Will Do
Media Relations & Global Visibility
- Lead and coordinate the flow of information between CARE US and Asia Country Offices.
- Serve as the primary liaison for US and global media requests in the region.
- Develop and execute a region-wide media engagement strategy to elevate CARE's presence across pan-regional and alternative media platforms.
- Coordinate messaging, press engagement, and spokesperson mobilization during crises.
- Strengthen relationships with key regional and international media outlets.
Content Leadership & Storytelling
- Work closely with Country Offices to identify compelling stories that reflect CARE's unique impact.
- Serve as interviewer, writer, photographer, and videographer in documenting CARE's work.
- Produce 12 high-quality story collections per country annually complete with photos, video, and narrative for fundraising, brand-building, and social media.
- Ensure all storytelling aligns with CARE's ethical storytelling guidelines and Communications Handbook.
- Act as advisor and liaison for Member-led content trips and commissions.
- Review, edit, and refine stories, photos, and video to meet CARE standards.
Crisis Communications
- Play a central role in CARE's integrated global crisis response.
- Coordinate rapid response communications with Country Offices.
- Support reactive quotes, talking points, and press engagement during emergencies.
- Ensure each Country Office has a clear communications response plan in place.
- Maintain readiness to mobilize spokespersons, visuals, and content at speed.
Country Office Support & Capacity Building
- Coach and mentor communications focal points across the region.
- Identify and train regional and country-level spokespersons.
- Strengthen communications systems, tools, and standardization across offices.
- Conduct field visits to assess and build communications capacity.
- Support induction and resourcing of new communications focal points.
- Serve as escalation point for communications policy, procedure, and compliance questions.
Required Qualifications
Who You Are:
You are a seasoned communications professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on storytelling skills equally comfortable drafting executive messaging as you are capturing field footage.
You Bring
- 10+ years of experience in communications, journalism, international relations, or related fields.
- Proven experience working with global and regional media.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills able to translate complex humanitarian issues into compelling, accessible narratives.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Experience managing crisis communications under pressure.
- Advanced multimedia storytelling skills and a strong design eye.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently across time zones with virtual teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple high-stakes priorities simultaneously.
- Deep commitment to ethical storytelling and safeguarding principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional background as a journalist, photographer, videographer, or media producer.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience engaging C-suite executives and training spokespersons.
- Experience working across multiple countries and cultural contexts.
- Media monitoring expertise.
- Experience supporting communications teams across diverse regions or countries.
