About Global Research Unit
The
Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP) is an independent research institute with expertise in health technology assessment (HTA) and policy development. We are committed to promoting the use of scientific evidence to inform health decisions at every level of society. Our
Global Research Unit is a dynamic and growing team of diverse researchers committed to enhancing health outcomes and improving equitable access to healthcare around the world.
We work with national, regional, and international partners to develop good practices for health policy and address health technology assessment challenges that do not yet have established practices or specialised tools. Our current research priorities span three core areas: systems thinking, health equity, and the evaluation of health technology assessment systems.
Our vision is to empower policymakers and stakeholders with innovative, rigorous, and contextually relevant health technology assessment insights to support decision-making in health policy, globally.
The Opportunity
We are seeking two Research Assistants to join our growing Global Research Unit. These are exciting roles for early-career researchers who are eager to work at the intersection of global health policy, research, and stakeholder engagement.
You will provide technical support to research projects, coordinate grants, and contribute to the effective project management of team activities – all while working within an international team tackling some of the most pressing challenges in global health.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support research projects through literature reviews, data collection (e.g., interviews, costing studies), contributing to model development, and preparation of reports, presentations, and grant proposals.
- Coordinate project activities, including scheduling, documentation, ethics submissions, and communication with partners and stakeholders.
- Assist with grant and project management by helping track timelines, budgets, deliverables, and contributing to internal reporting.
- Contribute to unit-wide activities, including stakeholder engagement, internal process improvement, and representing the Global Research Unit at HITAP-wide events.

Who We're Looking For
We are looking for motivated early-career candidates with a genuine interest in global health research and a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a collaborative and internationally focused team. Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent working experience
- Strong interest in global health policy, health technology assessment, or health systems research
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
- Excellent written and spoken English (minimum C1 CEFR / 7.0 IELTS / 95 TOEFL)
- Fluent in Thai (written and spoken)

Job Description
Research studies (50%)
- Provide technical support for research studies. Responsibilities may include conducting literature review, primary data collection (e.g. interviews, costing studies), drafting sections of grant proposals, supporting model development, data analysis, and drafting research reports and presentations.
- Coordinate data collection activities, which may include scheduling interviews and issuing official letters.
- Liaise with researchers for submission of ethical clearance for research studies.
- Develop and oversee communication plan for research projects, liaising with the communications team and researchers.
Grant management (20%)
- Coordinate research proposal development (including budget), under the supervision of researchers.
- Coordinate timely grant reporting, in adherence with funding agency requirements.
- Liaise with operations management and researchers to draft terms of reference for contractors, in adherence with HITAP procedures.
Project management (20%)
- Synthesise progress of research studies across the unit, proactively flagging issues with timelines, budget, or adherence to ethical clearance.
- Maintain tracker of project activities, timelines, and budget.
Other (10%)
- Maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders (in Thailand and internationally).
- Propose improvements to unit operations, including project management, staff development, and recruitment processes.
- Represent the unit in HITAP-wide activities.
