Resident Director Water & Maritime Office in Thailand

As Resident Director you will lead the establishment of Haskoning in Thailand focussing on Water and Maritime services. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our long-term presence in one of Southeast Asia's most dynamic markets. This is a unique opportunity to combine business leadership, professional expertise, and statutory directorship responsibilities while working closely with our APAC leadership team.

What you will do as Resident Director

You will be serving as the company's representative and statutory director for our Water and Maritime business operations in the country. Reporting to the regional director, you will drive business performance, ensure sound governance and compliance, strengthen client relationships, and support building a high-performing team aligned with Haskoning's strategy and values.

The Resident Director role is expected to evolve in line with the growth of the Thailand entity. During the establishment phase, the primary focus may be on regulatory compliance, professional engineering accountability and statutory representation. As the business expands, the role will progressively assume broader responsibilities.

Core activities of the Resident Director role are the following:

Country Leadership

• Acts as the statutory representative of Water & Maritime Thailand, ensuring compliance with local regulations and corporate policies.
• Oversees governance, risk management, business continuity and crisis response.
• Monitors operational, financial and organisational performance of the entity.

Engineering & Project Delivery

• Maintains the professional engineering licence(s) required for operations in Thailand.
• Provides professional oversight of engineering services delivered through the Thai entity.
• Acts as Project Director or Senior Reviewer and signatory as required.

Clients & Growth

• Represents Haskoning in Thailand and serves as the primary point of contact for clients, authorities and partners.
• Builds strategic relationships and supports business development activities.
• Provides local market, regulatory and stakeholder insights to regional and global teams.

People & Culture

• Fosters a high-performing and collaborative working environment.
• Supports recruitment, development and retention of local staff.
• Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to employees operating through the Thailand office.

Corporate Responsibility

• Promotes Haskoning's commitment to Enhancing Society Together including sustainability, ethics and corporate responsibility.
• Oversees country-level CSR and community engagement initiatives.
• Recommends local policies, procedures or deviations from global policies where justified by local requirements.

As our Resident Director you are based in Bangkok, Thailand, leading our newest office in Southeast Asia. The team is part of the Business Unit Asia Pacific, requiring close collaboration with regional and global leadership while maintaining a strong local market focus. From Bangkok, Haskoning works closely with government institutions, authorities, and private sector clients to address Thailand's critical water and maritime challenges covering coastal resilience, flood risk management, climate adaptation, and port development.

What you bring

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience in the water, maritime, or related infrastructure sectors in Thailand.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience in a similar role holding responsibility for business performance and team leadership.
• Valid Thai professional engineering licence (COE).
• Thai nationality with fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).
